    Geeky-

    We're talking about a Yahooey Group. It's named, tongue-in-cheek, the On30Conspiracy.

Great job on the roundhouse. I'm interested in the turntable also. How about some more pictures of it.

    More Progress!

Thanks Conrad. One thing I wnat to point out is the EVERYTHING on this is scratch built, even the windows, which are from some kind of embroidery mesh I found at a craft store. Out here in Podunk we gotta' improvise ;) Here is this weekend's work. Notice I have one inspection pit open.

    More of the Turntable

Conrad, here are few more of the TT. I will be replacing the wire supports as they look strange. I found some picture hanging cable that is the right scale thickness. Anyway, here you go :D

I started the roof. The front will be permanent, the main roof removable. After seeing a roundhouse in MR with roof construction going on (July edition) I decided that there should be some construction going on here also :D

Well, the idea in the MR article was so folks could see inside the building because he had a fixed roof. Our roof will be removable BUT I wanted to show off the board by board construction up front ;). Just in time too, I received some equipment for the inside of the roundhouse, tool chests, torches etc. I will likely have to manufacture an engine lathe and grinder etc. as these are outside the current budget :(.

I've seen pictures of some very nice detail parts. Like a band saw that really was an eye popper. But prices? Ouch!

    Yeah...and I don't hold the purse strings :(

I actually received some stuff that will help with filling the RH like a small fuel-oil engine and tools. I have built a tool cabinet, shelves, and a bench. I have some jacks too. I think I will be getting a jib crane and a grinder from E Bay ("You Are The Current Hight Bidder"...). I can get the basic stuff, then fill in the gaps later...I hope :)

Yeah...its funny that E Bay. Whenever it is something I REALLY want, I never win. When I get the attitude of "who cares" I win the auction every time. How about that ????

Well, whatever it is, the jib crane is now on its way to me for installation in the RH. I tell ya, a guy could spend a fortune on this hobby...wait a minute, I already have :D :D :D

Speaking of which, any common household stuff you guys know of that I can use for clutter inside the RH?

    Clutter and Workspace

This weekend things slowed down a bit BUT I was able to finish a tool cabinet, shelves with "clutter" and a work bench. What can be seen in the workbench shot is a vice, anvil, "stuff" being worked on (behind my conductor), a steam grinder (from my HO junk box), a hammer and wrench. There is a red tool box just out of the shot. Let me know what you guys think :D

Looks good! Are you making a lot of these items yourself?

Just about everything is scratch built. The only manufactured items are the vise, anvil, wrench, and tool box. Some of it, like the gears, were in my junk box. I am looking at building an engine lathe since I don't have $50.00 to spare on one :( . I should be getting the jib crane and another grinder in the mail soon.

As I fill this thing up I will also be hanging the steam lines. I am taking much of my inspiration from the Pueblo Roundhouse thread that was in the N scale forum. Now THAT is true craftsmanship ;)

    Fillin' Up The House!!

Been adding some detail to the interior of the RH. I still need lots of large equipment (an engine lathe, cranes etc.) and have not yet started the steam pipes BUT here are some tables, tools, shelves, a pot belly stove w/ coffee pot and so forth. let me know what you guys think ;)

I'm hoping for a photo showing a couple of the oldtimers. Sitting by that pot bellied stove. Gabbing away!

    The Boys Take a Break!!

Funny you should ask. As you were writing this the boys were just getting done cleaning the inside of a boiler, now its break time, along with "Skip" the rounhouse dog.

    John,

Its coming along nicely. I too was inspired by JWiDMAR's Pueblo roundhouse. Inspired may not be the right word - I guess more awe struck. Yours is getting to that level. I can't wait to see it completed.
