A GG1 should definitely put the proto police on alert. Maybe if I start now I can get a monopoly on PRR catenary products. Jason
According to the Atlas forum. These are the latest Kato's announcement. Kato USA: (N-Scale) Maxi-IV's Pacerstack Broadway Limited Trainset PRR GG1 SP Daylight GS-4 Daylight Trainset http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=39702
2 Years of nothing of interest to me from Kato, and now everything this month is needed, its killing me!!! Now to decide what I want the most.
Any indication of when the Broadway Limited and GG1 are coming out? I've got a couple of preorders coming due this fall. This could really hurt!
I'm really a UP, BNSF and SP guy at heart and with the announcement of the Daylight, i was extremely happy. Now comes the Broadway limited with a GG-1 no less. I grew up next to the pennsy main line in Philly, i saw GG-1's all the time and i have always wanted an N scale model of the GG-1. How can i have this icon when i model the above. Hmm!!!!!! What will i do???? I know that i can only order one---now which one? Help me please? KATO--how could you do this to me!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave
I didn't feel it at the time, but I'm starting to feel really slighted by Kato's "Empire Builder" release. At least these two offerings prove to me that the market is still comepletely dominated by people who buy things because they like it, not how prototypical it is. Or did I miss all the layouts based between LA and SF or PRR electrified? Jason
Great news for all you GG1 fans! I'll be watching to see if Kato tools up some new smoothsides or if they take the GN Empire Builder route with this.
I think you will be able to space your purchases a bit. Kato kept the first release of CZ in stock for about 12 months and have done 2 additional sets of numbers. The Super Chief has been run three times in the first set of numbers. Unfortunately until they are gone I can't get Kato to run additional numbers. IF we ever get a layout built for operations I'd need three sets for a typical operation session.
Has Kato put the kabash on dealers about releasing any info? Nothing on anyone's website. Nothing on Kato's website. No official photos. No spy photos from the show. Apparently, there is a model that some have seen. Also, I think we might see this Broadway and G as a Spring release. They are probably tooling and into pre-production right now. 3-4 months to produce. Time to get it here and into dealer inventory. My guess is April.
Just find someone with an ALPS printer, I made new name and number board decals for my second set of Super Chief cars using a metalic silver ribbon. I think the 2nd and 3rd releases of the Super Chief may have been just surplus from the origonal run that was kept back but then released as they sold out. I'm sure if they had produced a second run at the factory they would have used different numbers like they have with the CZ and everything else.
If you are correct then the Kato personnel are lying to me. They did a second run of GN passenger cars and they did not do new numbers. A second run of both BNSF & TTX Maxis were done with the same #'s. A new run of SD40's is BEING done right now with the same #'s.
Just a theory I had, we don't all have a direct line to Kato. I guess the different numbered CZ's and same numbered Super Chief's is just another example of the strange way Kato thinks.
huge poster on broadway and other new items scheduled through end of year across back of booth, I talked to designer when he visited my booth, and he said artwork has just been finalized, and to expect delivery in late spring. as for the daylight, they had the PPS on display. only got this one pic, I forgot to charge batteries, will get more tomorrow.
At last, some solid evidence Very nice, even without paint. I don't suppose he'd let you take some with the boiler and tender shell off. Are those the Daylight passenger cars in the background?
