Thanks for posting that and just had to find out more about that Harley-Trike-Trailer. Took a bit of searching but .... .... it was worth it. I can really appreciate the designing and work that went into building that. Sumner
Thanks Deacon and Sumner, two very cool pieces, and I appreciate your input. However, those are way more than my skills of today. I have my #34 cab repainted, sealed and ready for decals. I let the paint and the Alclad ALC-600 cure for two days each. Looks good, should finish by weekend. As far as next challenge, here it is. I have the parts & pieces on order :
Back to the Love's hauler. I did not care for my effort on the first painting, so I removed the paints for a 2nd spray job. Here it is : Not at all happy with this effort either, so I stripped it down to bare resin. I am finding the "chrome" paints to be too hard to work with so I am trying a new approach. I have sprayed the entire cab unit with TCP-533 High Gloss Bright Silver. Being a paint and after 3-4 days of drying I can mask with Tamiya tape and liquid mask. I shall see how that turns out. Here she is : Oh crap, I forgot to mention that while fiddling with this thing, I dropped it and some parts broke off. So repairs can be done. Here are the items, battery box/step, exhaust stack, mud flap, and one left side dual wheel/tire. See the fun : Oh well just another delay. I need a Crown Royal ! ! or two ! Be well
Well here it is 3 weeks after my last posting. I am not totally happy with the outcome until I remember that I am 83 years old and this is N scale. I had the yips so bad I thought I was on the putting green again. At ay rate hear it is, completed : I learned a great deal from this bash job such as the color of the base coat makes a real difference in the final color shade. In this case the trailer was primed and finished in black with yellow top coat and tractor base was silver. Oh well, the trailer had been in the shop and painted by a different shop. Speaking of "shop", I have to mention that the tractor chassis has been broken 3 times and patched so I feel good that it was usable. What is next : Here it is : And here are some of the parts & pieces. Yea I know this is a cattle trailer. The black area contains 8 individual logo images and I will print the entire black area as one decal. I also have some Bare Metal Foil to put on bottom of trailer in place of the white and maybe on the roof with a "The Intimidator" decal. I will not start this project until later in month towards year end. Be safe, be well, and thanks for letting me bore you.
Not gonna lie and I'm not saying this just to be nice, I had to keep checking and rubbing my eyes for that top photo to convince myself it wasn't a prototype shot of the real truck rollin down the highway. You did an amazing job on that thing and I'm looking forward to you boring me again with the next project. Cheers -Mike
Carl.... As the saying goes: "We are each our own worst critic !" You did an excellent job. We all it !!!
I'm more than 20 years your junior, and if I had a sixteenth of your skill, I'd be over the moon! Great job, and thanks for letting us tag along on the project's progress.
