Paul YES LL is producing the ALCO RS-11......... While not on the LL USA website yet (it took them several weeks to post the 2-8-8-2), my original post was based on All American Trains' (Germany) announcement which they received from Brawa (Life Like's European distributor). http://home.t-online.de/home/All-American-Trains/newlln.htm Let's all lobby LL for the big ALCO's like C628, C630, and C636............ 8=) eNjoy [ 07 February 2002, 10:58: Message edited by: dbn160 ]
Ok, now it appears LL is doing the RS11, what other ALCo (or anything else for that matter) could use the same chassis? If memory serves me correctly, Atlas used the Kato sourced RS11 chassis under the RSD12 originally. Gary.
Boy, those Nebraska winters must be tough on the brain (this from a Nebraska native who had the smarts to move somewhere with real scenery )....... Personally, I'd be the first in line to get an RS11 from LifeLike- I own a couple of LL diesels already, and I'm quite happy with them- the details are nice, the paint is correct, the handrails are the proper size & color, and they run well, albeit a bit noisy. But then again, when was the last time you heard a real diesel-electric run without noise, unless it was dead-in-consist?
Hi Friscobob - maybe you can answer this as a Nebraska native - Scott once hammered me because I dared suggest that Kato's availability wasn't good. Is it really true you can get every Kato model in every roadname produced at a reasonable price in Nebraska all the time? I will be working in Nebraska next week and would like to know.
Since the previous Atlas/Kato model was way off the mark, it wouldn't make sense for them to re-tool to compete with LL. I would bet money that this will be the only RS11 produced. But hey, look at how cheap LL products sell on E bay. I just bought a BL2 (new run, split chassis) for under $25.00. I plan on using the chassis to re-power an F40. Since the wheelbase is comparable to the 35, it should be a good fit.
