Well I picked up the test etched fret for the F45 kit and spent the weekend putting all the bits on the casting. Here are a few pics of the body with most of the etched details on it. This unit is a built with the BN style rads and DB screening. AT&SF style is also in the kit. Still waiting on laser cut window glazing and exploded view plans to show up in the next few weeks and we can get this thing out to those interested. grant [ February 27, 2006, 11:16 AM: Message edited by: grant-sar ]
Stunning! Just drop ship my order to Hemi. I'll have mine in GN EB though CP Multi Mark is looking good. //I know we can 't place orders yet.
Grant - a winner - to be sure. Revise my order to 3 kits - one will end up in SF KADACHROME for sure. Toots
Damn! That's gorgeous! I'm tempted to order a third for MRL paint.... Steve, you sure you don't want it in BSB like my pair will be? That CP multimark could work, especially with your Pacman coal train! I'll be ready when they are, with checkbook in hand!
You better believe it! Here's a GN version, with BN numbers: Jim Munding photo: http://64.246.11.82/images/3/3093761-R1-E021.jpg.85334.jpg
Perhaps I missed it...what is the process for ordering these, and what is the price? I remember posts about it running on an SD40 chassis, but I don't recall pricing or anything else. It looks awesome! I want one for an MRL unit, as one would show up in Texas occassionally on the BNSF. Probably not going to be able to buy one any time soon though. We'll see.
$80 CN, yes uses Kato SD40 mech. Order info, Grant'll have to take that one. I'm guessing email Grant direct.
Doh! I must be thinking of something else... Tip? Don't eat yellow snow?? I'm gettin' excited, just thinking about this engine! In your experience, was it easier to assemble the larger assemblies, and paint, then add the small details; paint all the small details, and add them after the shell is painted; or fully assemble, and then paint?
Kit form Steve. I may be offering a few built up in BN paint as a friend has talked me into doing a few for him. grant
