Those tenders are from the old turbine engines, who go them from steam engines..ny best bet would be to go to swap meet, try to find one there, fix it up and repaint it....best to you!!
Well I wanted to mention I started to scratchbuild the 1 tender and i will post images in few days . I am building them as what the style will now be from the info you all posted here. Thank you all again
Heres what I got as of saturday afternoon. Iv had trouble bending styrene(gotta find more info on that topic, lol) I crafted main body from styrene and sides will be brass sheet.I will add more pics as i get closer to being done
Hi Dan...I've been thinking of making the tenders out of one cast piece. Take a look at the trucks on the Bachmann Spectrum Vanderbuilt tender # 89451. The trucks are an exact match...better than the Veranda tender trucks. You might also be able to use the light fixture. I tried to get the dimensions from Wasatch, but they have no drawings or other records so photos will have to do. I have a few that you might not have and can PM them to you. Best wishes on this project...I can't wait to see how it looks! Really looking good!!! Steve E.
Hi again Dan..is this HO or N? I don't know if Bachmann makes the tender (for the trucks ) in HO or not. Steve E.
Hey Steve - I had same problem trying to get info from Wasatch too. I found an article ( I copyed it and posted here few posts back that I did most of my guessing from). I have a Precision Scale Co. Cat. #3.1 = the trucks are a Commonwealth Tender truck with rollerbearing journals-I still gotta call the to find out spec on wheelbase length, from that article the wheelbase is 10' and truck centers are 23'-5". I too though about casting this model-I think I am going to make 3 of these-the last one will be the one I will use to make the mold. Ill keep posting. Thank you again
I thought it might be after seeing the rivets on your tender sides. You will probably have an easier time finding the trucks for HO. Steve
I got boths side on,im trying to add the detail of the weld marks along the tender sides -so far all i can find to do this is fine thread-I gotta run out to store in a few minutes to get better glue, lol
hey all i got the model, but i think one detail i put on is to thick. I tryed to copy the weld mark on the side of tender and it was to high-this is what i got so far
thank you,im gonna try and remove the 1 detail thats goofing up the model. Im also starting a new model of it,i found some errors that i made in the rivet detail and now got more better understanding on how to build this.Im definatly gonna try at castong it,mite be my next 1.
Hey just wanted to let ya all know on my progress-iv made 2 more of this model -i finnaly got it rite, but i dont have images cause im gonna do this as a cast. Im just waiting on the casting supplys to come in. Each time I rebuilt from scratch i made improvments to make it better to cast. I hope to post images of the tank side later this evening.I made the orignal sides out of styrene to get better detail of rivet and weld marks.I will post more later, thank you all again
ok heres some updated pictures-i got the tender main body rebuilt and ready to cast(still waiting on supplys).Im gonna start on frame-mite take some time as im waiting on PSC to send my order for the detail parts and trucks to come.Ill keep posting
Thank You,Only thing if anyone mite know or has closer pictures of the 2 items im looking at,trying to figure out what the 2 items are(i labeled with an arrow)
