Before I cut down the Atlas MP15DC mechanism some more I though I'd show progress so far with my SW1500 kitbash. I need to cut another 2 - 3mm from the mechanism so that the front truck clears the shell.
Hope you weathered the hurricane ok. My layout, locos rolling stock among other key train items evacuated with me. Though unsure how many people would take their trainset out of all their possessions but I did. Thanks you for the frame kit part numbers. Can't see to find them on the MTL site. Not many online. Maybe discontinued? :-(
We didn’t get a direct hit, it was north of us when it came through our area. We had cat 1 winds and lots of rain but no damage. The scary part was the tornadoes. There were quite a few of them over 12 or so hours. Some were very close but none hit us or our neighbors. How did your home do? Did you have any issues? People who are not model railroaders would probably not understand why you took trains with you but I understand. One of the good things about N is that you can take a lot of them in a small suitcase. I just looked on the MTL website and you’re right, they don’t list the car or truck frame loads. I don’t know if that means they will no longer be made or if it’s just that they don’t have any in stock at the moment. I’m hoping it’s the latter.
Glad to Glad to hear everything turned out ok. Lost another 20% of the front tree (20% off from Helene) and some scalloped looking tile roof trim piece. Was really worried since in process of getting a new tile roof. With the tile removed, only the waterproofed insulation (don't know what its actually called) and the trim pieces have been installed. Fortunately, no water stains on ceilings discovered. Thanks for the frame loads pics, I saved the MTL parts numbers and will periodically check availability.
I’m still working on pipe loads, this time I’m making two shorter loads for the two Kato gondolas I have. In this photo you can see one of the gondolas, one load almost done, the thread needs to be trimmed, and one load yet to be assembled.
The pipe loads are finished, loaded into the gondolas, and running on the layout. I somehow managed to get the strapping skewed on the load on the right. I’m going to try to straighten it but I’ll run it for a while first.
I sold my first circuit board made for the company I’m trying to start! Yay! It’s just a DC/DCC or PROG/MAIN switch with colored LEDs to indicate which mode you are in. And I got the upgrade parts to make my Digikejis DR5000 into a YAMORC YD7001. And that’s about it for me.
Next up is actually my first invention but I’m still waiting on a friend to help me with the software for it. It will be a board that will automate a train/tram to make stops in various conditions. I can successfully write the software for each of the 4 different modes, but I don’t know how to link each mode.
Inspired by pics in the More Mowing thread, decided to adapt the hand car included in Osborne's Models Maintenance of Way Shed to a MTL truck. The small size -- 3 tries in over 6 hours to put assemble the pump frame and handle to car floor! A small square 1/64 balsa scrap-washer and bottom screw thru the bolster pin hole into a rectangle shape 1/8" balsa on top to match height of coupler box. " The double platform will be either glued or screwed to the 1/8 balsa. The unattached platform and pump sitting on top 1/8 balsa and coupler box.
Nice! But you better put a ladder/steps on it. The coupler is a nice addition, but just try telling the crew they have to move a boxcar with that thing!
Sorry for the late response to this question. I have not been able to access TB for almost 2 weeks due to the certificate issues, it's great to have TB back! The screens shown on the phones in the original post were done by creating a graphic, I use Visio but any drawing program would work. I printed it out on paper and took a phone with the phone. Then set that image as the "wallpaper". I also moved all the unused app icons that were on the first page to the second page and put the icons for the setup and throttle app in the bottom bar.
On the workbench the past couple days... Made a nice.... .... 12v PWM DC throttle for under $10 that I can use testing DC locos before I convert them to DCC. More images and info along with print file links on TrainBoard here.... https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/4-to-15-pwm-12v-dc-throttle.156700/ You can find a demo of the throttle on YouTube.... Also been printing the last parts of the sawmill complex... ... and started assembly. More here... https://1fatgmc.com/RailRoad/UP%20Canyon%20Division/page-234.html Sumner
Early last month, posted the start of construction of the tree lot base and attaching method of the string to each pole. The base has been moved to the layout, populated with trees and the farm Christmas tree installed. Used micro screws for a single wrap around and to hold the string to the pole instead of gluing string to a .04" square insert. A few pics and a short video.. After 10 months without running trains, its time to get them running. Updated ED routes to include Lot and farm tree light control with option for steady on or blink. A short video of all the scenery...
