Take care Mark. We are on the east coast in Vero Beach and will probably be affected by Milton. Are you in the Tampa/St Pete area? Take care and stay safe.
Stay safe Mark! Maybe Milton will take it easy on you. Sounds like you have a good plan for the gons. I will admit I have been on a bit of a gon kick this year. We won't discuss how many I added to the fleet
That looks great. Could you please show us how to set up a screen like that or point me in the right direction.
Everything with DCC is getting me down currently so dad and I did some very therapeutic riveting on his C&O caboose. We make sure the rivet heads are round on both sides. It's surprisingly easy to do.
The last 4 truck frame loads are done and running on the layout in gondolas. This concludes my truck frame project.
For the past few weeks I've been working on building a Laser Art wood gas station kit. Today I spent the afternoon installing the roofing material. Almost done with this one, just a few more details to add. I've got several posts on my blog that cover this project in more detail. https://palisadecanyonrr.blogspot.com/2024/10/a-gas-station-for-carlin-part-3.html
Alright, alright, I take back what I said about those truck frame loads not looking good in a gondola We all make mistakes at times. Looks awesome!!!
Thanks... I'm in St. Petersburg Have a bad feeling about this one... Be careful too as it looks like Milton will still be a hurricane when it reaches your neck of the woods. Thanks.. Your gondola work is outstanding. The gondolas will suffice until a couple of flat cars can be found. ... They look Great!
The rivet work looks good. Is that a ride on scale? I bet it’s lots of fun. Very nice work on this gas station, Brad. Thanks in2tech. I thought the same thing when I started this project. My plan was to put them all on flat cars. I put 2 in a gondola just to see how it looks and I like it even though I’m pretty sure it’s not at all prototypical. I may eventually get some more flat cars for frames but it’s a very low priority since I am happy with them in the gons.
We are preparing for a hurricane just in case. We are 6 to 8 miles from the coast so flooding is not an issue but we are preparing for hurricane winds and lots of rain. I agree, BNSF FAN’s gondola work is outstanding. He’s inspired me to make loads similar to his. I just measured and 2 truck frame loads are just under 3” long as I have them on the flat car. I’m sure they would fit on a 42’ flat car and most likely would fit in a 42’ gondola.
Ya know, I was thinking about a hurricane party today. Who knows, it might be fun? We have 4 battery packs and a propane generator to recharge the batteries. If power is out for more than a day I could use one of the batteries to run trains. Me too, but a hurricane party would be fun.
I packed up the Element and now in a room in Orlando Sounds good. I'll have to check out the frame loads. What kind r they?
