Its' ONLY a Conrail ! Nothing important like a BN or SF or a BNSF !! ** Every time I read "Conrail" I think of the movie "Con Air" but with a train instead of a plane...LOL
Now you got me thinking of that movie. lol. I do have a few possible BNSF units that were wreck rebuilds that I may build for my run-through fleet. :teeth:
Probably but I'm not a member on Trainorders. There have been quite a few models of this loco made by others.
Hi Managed a little more time on my C-630M. I used some Briggs air filters to replace the standard central air intakes. The concept was good, but the execution was a little rough. Learning as I progress, so the other side will be better. Another, and somewhat easier improvement for the Atlas Alcos is to add a full width radiator with a see through cat walk. Using parts from 2 Atlas radiators, cut to fit as one continuous radiator, as shown in these photos. A section of almost any etched cat walk will make a huge difference when added. What the finished model should look like, with or without Laura on the front. Cheers Steve
Great work. I've often thought about doing the radiator improvement, but now I'm afraid if I do it it will make my other alcos stick out like sore thumbs! What are you planning to do for trucks?
Thanks guys Mike,I have a set of Briggs trucks, but I didn't make a great job of my last set of those. I also have a set of MbE Dofasco side frames, but they are a little long as they are designed as a compromise. If I'm settling for a compromise, I'm considering using a set of Atlas C40-8 trucks. They are also too long, but may work on the C-630 chassis. I think I can modify them to be nearly as good as the MbE side frames. Does anyone know if the C40-8 trucks will fit? And if they do, will the overall length, still fit within the C-630 frame? Cheers Steve
Finished painting the pair of C&S U30C's for a club member with my new Tru-Color paint. Couplers still to be added but temporarily posed them on a couple of old non-DCC mechanisms for a builders photo before I give them back. CB&Q purists will notice a few detail discrepencies from the prototype but I hope they look the part.
Started work on a few SP&S Broad Stripe paint scheme cars for the streamliner, or the combined GN and NP Portland sections. First car had to be a modification the get a baggage dorm so I chose an old Lima/Model Power RPO/baggage/coach as the fist victim. Needed to fill in the RPO doors and end doors, plus all but five windows so I used both .010 and .015 styrene strip. Modified the baggage doors from two window to three window and sanded off a few details.
What a terrible thing to say. Who couldn't appreciate the classic curves of an Alco Century cab roofline?
Two RS-3 units and an SW-9 are underway in BN. The conversion of the old car into SP&S baggage dormitory 76 is continuing.
Finally back working on my Hollywood back lot false front western town. First time working on it in 6 weeks. Building a saloon false front, starting with the swinging doors. I read in an history blog that swinging doors were not all that prevalent in saloons of the real wild west, more a Hollywood thing. But the Hollywood thing is exactly what I am building.
