Yes it does Bill , it looks fantastic !!! Was this the pewter kit or the resin one ? I may be E Mailing you next week , I need to go to Huron S Dakota and Pigs Eye yard for some shopping , I might be in your area as well. Randy
Pewter kit. I'm not aware of a resin one. If you're in the area, you need to stop by my place in Carol Stream.
I recently received and applied decals custom decals to these three Saginaw Valley Railway units. The three units are waiting for some finishing touches before reassembly. The SW8 on the right is waiting for one of Matthew's S4 shells to arrive from Shapeways before donating its guts to what will be Port Huron & Detroit (PH&D) #62.
Not much progress on my layout but I did get a "bashed" Blue Bird GP9 finished. I'm not a super-detailer because I have young kids who run my trains, but I do love Blue Birds and finding a reasonably priced Atlas Blue Bird GP9 from that special run a few years back is pretty much impossible. In the end I modified an older Life-Like plastic GP18 chassis and mounted an Atlas GP9 shell that I did myself. I do go a little heavy on the gloss, I have to use brush paints at this point so it is tough to keep it thin. This one matches up nicely with a four fan B&M GP18 I did last year.
Adding the finishing touches to my SD40-2 and also am midway through my first scrathbuilt structure... a circa 1930's northeastern style 2 story house... pics to come
There are a few resin copies of the never-released Jamco brass model floating around out there (now that's trivia) - -Mark
Thanks Mark. Not quite as detailed as the GHQ shell but it looks good especially considering how old it is.
A few building kits... And a completely scratchbuilt house Still needs a roof over the back addition, and final detail stuff (rain gutters, service box, etc.)
Scratch Built Processing Tower I've been working on a Processing Tower to add to my NTrak module set that loosly freelances a oil refinery/chemical processing facility (Rockin' Toxin). Started as a quicky "This shouldn't take long" project that mushroomed into a month long deal. Getting close to the finish just needing to add the railings, some figures, and then planting it on the modules. Everything scratchbuilt except for the power panel (and pumps). Once planted, I'll try to get a picture of it w/the rest of the facility. NCDaveD
Dave , The work on the tower is well worth the time . It is an unusual structure that will generate a lot of looks and questions. Mike
Thank you very much for your kind words! The tower is "borrowed" from a similar one Stephen Priest had in his Augusta Refinery as shown in August 2007 Scale Rails. The ladders and safety cages are Gold Medal Models that I modified by opening up the safety cages at each level so that a worker can go from the ladder to the platform. The paint is kind of heavy, but I had some problem getting the white to cover the brass and plastic uniformly (even after primer), and the yellow paint I just put too much down. I am looking forward to having the modules in Atlanta this summer for the NMRA National Show. They may not be contest worthy, but they should be a little "different" NCDaveD Here is a shot of it finished with the railings, workers and fire extinguishers.
