My workbench is TRASHED.. and how did I end up with so many pickle cars ? At least ONE thing on my bench is Milwaukee road orange ! Randy
Randy, you don't know trashed... love the "relic" car; a cut down three dome republic? Would love to see what you do to it. regards, Otto
The "relic" car is a cheap ($.99 ) car. It's sitting on a new intermountain tank car chassis. I'm interested to see how it turns out too, I don't have any two dome cars. Randy
thanks for this information. regarding the pictures of railpictures.net and rrpicturearchives.net ... i have downloaded ALL their pictures to my local drive... having some programming experience sometimes really helps.

Ends are MT and all rails and grabs are brass. Cupola is scratch. Old and rickettty, but they served for a long time. Number 627 was later sold to the Scaramento Northern..............
I finally finished my scratchbuild Attebery Grain elevator. I started this thing over four years ago, but then we had a move, thus dismantling my old layout, planning the new layout, etc. But I got back to it this spring and "ta da" it is finally complete.
Still working on some simple stuff in hopes of getting it done for next weekends train show in Galesburg. The front of the DPM "Roadkill Cafe" had some molding issues. The molding that divided the bottom 3/4 quarter and top 1/4 window was incomplete. I simply removed it, and filed the area and made it one large window, not too different than what has been done on the real deal. Many of these old buildings get new windows and not all the trim is used. With that out of the way, I finished the outer walls. I'm using the Tobias Locomotive Works interior kit (unfortunately no longer produced) and it includes a roof. I carefully sanded the roof and dry fitted it in. I want to finish the outside a bit then airbrush it this weekend. I still need to name it and want something other than "Hardrock Cafe". I want to name it after one of my favorite bands (AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Black Sabbath, ETC) or one of their albums or songs. Since my Girlfriend Angela is the worlds biggest Bon Jovi Fan, it may up with a name from his song list. Mean while work on the Life-Like GP38-2 continues. Handrails, clear coat and light weathering and I can call this done. Hopefully I can get this done tomorrow.
Working on a phase III RS-3. Why is it that everyone that makes an Alco Road Switcher does the phase I carbody?
Here's my first AS-616 shell, also shrunk down from HO scale. To get the gaps between the cab, walkways, and hood under control I ended up gluing all three together into one piece (still some work to do on the gap between the cab and the hood). I also made the steps and pilot thicker on the HO master of the frame so that they would maintain their shape when being shrunk down. It was a huge challenge to keep the distortion on the hood to a minimum. Many hours were spent hollowing out the hood and frame after getting them to the desired size.
I'd wish for copies of the vehicles as well . I looked at the process for shrinking and its waaay beyond my patience and ability. This guy is a clever one for sure !! Randy
I'm still a long way away from being able to produce copies of the shell on any mass production basis. Randy, I can make you copies of the vehicles, but it will probably be several months before the humidity is low enough to make good castings. Right now I can't even cast a second cab for another AS-616 I am trying to make.
More work on my Rock Cafe: Main floor with booths, bar, jukebox and stairwell. Second floor with apartment quarters in the front, storage in the back. Roof installed. I'll do a little trim work then get it ready for painting. My spray booth is back up so hopefully today I can get the brickwork and trim painted. Still have not come up with a name for it yet.
