The super-elevated double track curves come in 16 3/8" + 15" radii, #20-181 (#20-182 for transition curves).
Ok we got some T-Trak time this weekend. I built the “old” station and put some of the “sand” down on the far side of the street. I think this is going to be my final building placement as well.
Last pic of the night. I decided to give the DQ and strip mall a fresh layer of asphalt. I will be painting the road stripes here soon, as well as more sand, and some scrub brush.
Looking good brother! Is that a concrete road or are you going to darken it up to worn asphalt? I spent the day car shopping for my wife, think we have it narrowed down to the perfect car now after test driving a few today. But when we finally got home tonight, My wife claimed the honors. no momentum was programmed in and her first time on the new ESU controller, so the stops were sudden.
CMR called me this am and confirmed that is what they are set up for. Now to buy the correct track so I can assemble them!
So, each module will need two transition pieces (22.5 degrees each) and one 45 degree curve piece (for a total of 90 degrees). I saw somewhere (but I can't find it now) a pair of similar modules this size that were set up for using the two back-to-back for a 180 turn. They left the adjoining transition pieces off for the middle of the curve. You installed another 45 degree super-elevated curve to bridge the two modules together. That avoided the extra transition between level and super-elevated tracks (and back again) at the boundary between two such modules. It also limits how well you can blend in the Unitrack roadbed with the adjacent scenery. Or if you wanted to use them separately, you could just install those two transition pieces (one on each).
That sounds like a good idea since I plan to always use them in pairs. Thanks! Now to wait for someone to get them back in stock! Lol.
Here is the linky to the Masterpiece site that has the description that @BigJake talks about http://www.masterpiecemodules.com/T-trak_N_Scale__19R_Corner.php#1
Yep saw those just never knew till Big Jake mentioned it that they also had smaller diameters of the super elevated doubles.
I looked at Masterpiece and didn't see 16" so kept looking... Thanks for digging deeper! That is the sight I remembered. Hey, I was only off by 3"! Or 40' in N scale...
Yep, I get mine from CMR. almost bought masterpiece for the 1” foam option which would have made my life easier but decided instead to cut and recess Santa Claus Beach for the ocean part of it.
So here is the track laid out. rear line will be disguised by dunes and hillocks. front line will be where the beach is. no turning back now!
Nope, you’re stuck. Hope you like sand... you know it’s miserable, it gets into everything... (said some brooding entitled kid)
Richard, What radius are the non-unitrack curves? You've got some S-curves, but depending on what the radii are, they may be OK. The Unitrack has a short straight track between the opposite direction curves, to break up the otherwise S-curve.
