I don't have any specialty bulbs to try a photo. But as bad as they are, many are better than what folks use to list there million dollar trains here.
I'm going to guess that this is the dreaded misplaced decimal point. That shell for $10 with a BIN of $13.00 makes much more sense to me.
Reply to "why can't I get good pictures?" I use a $100 Nikon Coolpix. Autofocus (no user control), auto exposure. Beginner's camera. Camera on tripod to make it steady at ridiculously long exposures it takes indoors. (1/15, 1/10, 1/5!!!). Set with "little flower thingy icon" (macro lens setting) with lens 3-6 inches from subject. Place subject EXACTLY in middle of frame regardless of composition I want so autofocus will focus on what IT "thinks" it should. I do NOT zoom in to fill frame with subject, but use full wide-angle setting for greatest depth of field. Two 100 watt light bulbs in work-light clamp reflectors on light stands. Disclosure: I use a cheap version of Photoshop ("Elements") to crop. Further disclosure: this photo was to illustrate how a Bachmann shorty combine could be bashed into a caricature at least of a Santa Fe mixed-train combine with ATSF-style wide windows. I wanted it to look nice. If I had been taking this shot to sell it on "that auction site," I would have felt compelled to show that MTL coupler on one end is drooping because GOO wasn't holding it in position, and MTL replacement coupler entirely missed from other end. Also I reduced size of image to 640 pixels wide because Railimages & Trainboard don't like monster oversize images. "The auction site" asks that photos be at least 1600 pixels in some dimension so they can be blown up with the magnification tool. For extremely small N scale parts, you can only get SO macro, so one is compelled to shoot item with a lot of silly empty space around it, to please auction site's request for 1600 pixel image.
I just upload the full size images (after cropping) with my trusty early production digital rebel. I use the copy of a beat-up rudimentary photo editor called iPhoto (no relation to iAnything Else) that came with my first scanner. That first scanner was long ago recycled but the software lives on. As for the $1300 shell... wrong venue.
The price looks good on this auction until you see the shipping! I sure hope it's a misprint? But just moving the decimal around doesn't make sense? $1.40 or $14.07 http://www.ebay.com/itm/111660410122?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT#shpCntId
Hmmm. I can't come up with anything sensible either. Hopefully any potential bidder reads the ad first, and inquires....
Seen a few like this lately, see an item, decent price, then realize they want 4x the cost of what it will take to ship it.
Except for the title of the "offering" on the evilbait ad: "Atlas w/DCC free ship MasterLine N Scale GP9TT custom Black River#752,TCS c-7ex"
Maybe the seller just stuck that in, as you must enter some number? I don't sell there any more, and have not been following all of their mindless rules changes.
Listing shows seven inquiries on this item, however the seller has chosen to not display any of them. I asked again... "Can you confirm the shipping amount? Listing title says free ship but shipping cost is showing as one hundred forty dollars."
Seems to be a guy who is trying to get a bite on the buy it now price of $69 and make up the difference with $140 shipping.(the free ship is also nice touch) I thought Feebay had some kind of reasonably shipping rule?
They do, but I believe it's only if the item is reported to them... or whatever their rules are. No response on the shipping question as of yet.
I was just reading the notice of new/changed rules issued May 5th. I cannot believe people find this stuff acceptable....
The item ended and i never got a response to two inquiries about the 140.75 shipping. I'm sure he was trying to pull a fast one...
Just imagine the fracas if somebody buys it and sends a screenshot to evilbait of the "free ship" and the invoice for $140......
No response to me either. Meanwhile, take a look at the three negatives received in the past 12 months. Those alone put said seller on the "Ignore List." http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...=negative&interval=365&_trkparms=negative_365
Wow. There may only be three negs, but the posters are definitely angry at him. That many, in so few transactions during brief membership and I'd never even think about a bid.
