WOW ---- great additions indeed. Nice color on that church --- great matching job, as well as all the other weathering and details.
....although, were there ever parking meters out front back in the era you are representing??? I don't see any tell-tale signs there was. Now, if that were a Baptist Church, rest assured there would be parking meters.....
A while ago I finished my 6-story brownstones that were produced for me by Marc Fouillard on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/1One60Mo3...-CR48a4wsz&eaid=21861920908&x_eaid=62986a54ff Marc took his N scale 3-story brownstone and created a Z scale 6-story version for me. I'm alway pleasantly surprised how people will help if you just ask. I think Marc did a great job! The fire escapes and other details are of my own kit bashing. The roof water towers are from Z & US Models https://zandusmodels.wordpress.com/2021/10/06/layout-building-accessories/ Just for fun I put Anthony running home (he's just to the right of the couple with the baby carriage) as his mom yells out the 6th floor far right window of the left brownstone "Anthony! Anthony!" (a play on the classic 1969 Prince Spaghetti Day commercial, and yes, the commercial it set in Boston but it fits in with where I grew up in NYC) Enjoy, John
Haha -- EXCELLENT. Heck, I grew up in New Mexico in the desert, but your buildings and modelling give me a real taste of what I am sure it was like in New York. Great detail everywhere as always.
I can vouch for the realism, especially the roof work: amazing and evocative. Any pigeon coops to come?
Thanks Bruce. No pigeon coops on this building, I have one on one of my other buildings so I didn't want to over do it. John
I was lucky to find Steven Smith, “DESIGNDYNE”, on Shapeways back in 2022 and he was kind enough to reduce his N scale Philadelphia Row Homes to Z scale. https://www.shapeways.com/product/63KR3WASF/phl-row-home-3s-220?li=shareProduct These are just the front of the row house, there are no side walls, rear wall, or roof, but I wanted to have these as a backup because TownBuilder System (TBS) no longer make their well produced and extremely detailed Z scale row house set, and something told me that I should have another option for row houses in case I needed one. I have a set of the TBS row houses on my layout but wished that TBS was still producing all their fantastic products. There’s nothing out there like them. Well, it turned out that I did need one row house because I miscalculated the spacing on my layout between buildings, and so enter Steven Smith’s Z scale row house, it was the perfect fit for what I needed to correct the spacing of the buildings on my layout so that the streets lined up where I wanted them to. I used Kibri styrene brick walls for the side walls and styrene for the roof, rear wall, and base. The vines on the side of the row house are from my scrap box (these were the first vines I ever did) which I secured to the sided of the row house wall with matte Mod Podge. The scene in the front of the row house is a group of teenagers playing stoop ball (something I played as kid) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoop_ball This was a fun small building to assemble. Enjoy, John
John, Excellent work making due with what you have! The vines look great, and love the stoop ball game! Scott
I just finished building Lance's piggyback flat car kit. It is a great kit, but like a things Z it is delicate. I stripped and repainted a MTL flat car that I purchased into NYC colors with decals from K4 and decaled a Randy Brown 25' Semi Trailer with N scale decals from Microscale Industries. Lance did a fantastic job of creating a much needed piece of railroad equipment. Well done Lance! A great addition to my rail roster! Enjoy, John
