Years ago, I built some interiors for some N scale brass Superliner cars for a friend. A few years ago, he took one apart to replace some window film he had damaged. He was surprised to find tiny porcelain fixtures in all the restrooms. Busted, I thought no one would ever see them.
Larry came by and we...I mean he, installed the fascia boards. Is that what they call it? Anyway, I need to use the wood filler and make it smooth. What colour should I paint it? I thought white, but I'm not sure. I was thinking black would be better. What do you guys think? The picture shows only a part of my layout. Where the light is sitting is were my canal is located. Sometimes I think I'm the April fool
You might consider a color which does not contrast with or set itself apart from the layout. Perhaps an earth tone so it blends in, and becomes a part of the scenery.
My fascia is black. All the museum layouts have black curtain material pleated hanging to the floor. My suggestion is whatever makes you comfortable. Though black is unobtrusive due to the bright scenery colors.
I'm still strong on black but I've got some construction paper of many colors. I will tape a few to the fascia boards and see how they look.
Just a suggestion- Marking, removing and cutting the profile of the canal into your fascia would allow viewing and photography along the surface of the canal- a great plus well worthwhile for this outstanding scenic feature.[/quote]
My fascia are pastel blue with burgundy red fabric hanging from them. It works for me! They're mostly functional. Keeps my trains from falling off the edge of the world.
It's up to you, but I would say Black or Dark Green. Black will make your layout blend in the background and make it look skinny, like us wearing Black clothes Examples of both!
If that is your layout. very, very, nice! The pictures I posted are just from YT videos Me likes the Green.
I agree with the lighter colors and having it follow the contours where possible. Except Candy's appear to be 3/4" which would be more difficult to cut and if the trains are close they should be higher for protection. Best wishes.
This is not a good picture, but it will do for now. The house is just placed there. I move things around to see how they will look. I've been waiting more than a year to find the right place for my house. Once I add all the details, I think it will look marvelous.
Really nice looking city duplex. I'm a country boy so only visited them when in Milwaukee and even living across the street from the rails was unnerving so that wouldn't have been good.
