And not that far-fetched, perhaps. One could envision an "alternate history" situation where the NP pursued partial electrification, as did the Milwaukee and Great Northern. Then it's plausible that the NP could have purchased GG1s from GE and/or Baldwin-Westinghouse and which, if they were in service long enough, could have been painted in the Loewy scheme.
Finding it ironic that the NP fans have taken over a Milwaukee Road thread, all because of the promise of an FP7 from Kato,
This is because all new passenger train threads eventually bring out us NCL zealots. The NCL is requested by forum members more than all other name trains combined. I can prove that with facts and data. (actually, I can't back that up, but it sounds good)
OK. Here's a request for Kato to make a NYC 20th Century Limited. Maybe Hiroshi-san will someday take a ride in the Hickory Creek.
Absolutely. The fact that NCL is at the top of my wish list won't preclude me from buying any correct name train from Kato. I know that I am in a pretty big club on this issue. Kato knows what they are doing. The best thing about the Hiawatha announcement is that it "gets that one out of the way" of an NCL.
Yes! I will second that motion. If not the most requested, then the 20th Century Limited is the second most.
I still believe there may be a bias against NP at Kato headquarters. They must dislike the Monad. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
I know but... releases of anything NP prior to that was scant at best. A couple of NW2 and a couple of RDC. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
That's what I thought... they did a bunch of other roads including GN' Hustle Muscle. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
Getting back to the original thread... I'm happy for Milwaukee Road fans for the announcement and will likely buy the Oly-Hi when released. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
The folks at KATO USA are way ahead of you, trust me. NP fans take heart. Now that the US market has been granted much more freedom to produce new models from the factory in Nippon, we should see much more coming along. Keep in mind the Olympian was on the drawing board for several years. It was always just a question of what the factory would let them produce. Also, keep in mind that the western trains have always been good sellers. Just vote with your wallet and buy an Olympian. After all, like the daylight before it, its another "pretty" train. That alone sells. Certainly 2 tone green would sell...
Kato made this about 20 years ago. It was a 10-car train consisting of two sets, a 6-car set with an E-7A and E-7B, and a 4-car add-on set. It was a beautiful train, both in detail and operation.
Me being a steam era guy. Have let down one of my blinders for this. I look forward to seeing what exactly they produce for passenger cars. I hope they are what they are supposed to be and not a copy type deal like con cor did. As for all those NP NCL folks out there.... Perhaps you need to Petition mfrs to produce your dream train. Get on with it too. Because surely, someone would take up that torch if we all start that. And then you can quit hijacking threads. (Big grins here) But really I feel for ya. But back to the thread. I will be interested in knowing how the sets will be sold. DC? DCC ? Sound? All three options? And how big will the set be? Oh such hard questions. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
P.S. I have one of those complete 10 - car NYC sets for sale in very good condition with original boxes, if anybody needs one. Message me.
