Oh crap, their goes my wallet again.... Who am I kidding. That's awesome news. I would have been ticked if they did 617 because I just painted that one... Brian
Great. More Dash 9's. Yipee. Where are the SD45's and C30-7s or other U boats. I getting sick of this not rerunning or retooling of things that actually sell just as good. >:/
I take it that since the C set will be the add-on, that A and B will be the eight car set? Does anyone know for sure? Thanks! Chris
Here's the rest of the announcement details: N scale AT&SF RR "Super Chief" Re-live some great moments in history in miniature with Kato's "Super Chief". This is another exciting "Classic Train" from Kato packaged nicely into an eight car set. The "Super Chief" was one of the named passenger trains of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. It was the only all Pullman train to operate on the Santa Fe main line between Chicago and Los Angeles and operated typically with 12 cars. An additional 4 car set is available to add to this set so the entire 12 car train can be modeled. The train was usually pulled by an F7A-B-B-A combination with our models time period being 1956 to 1958. We selected the most popular time period of 1956 - 1958 when this train was operated and promoted and advertised by the AT&SF RR as its premier all Pullman train between Chicago and Los Angeles. In January 1958, the all coach "El Capitan" and the "Super Chief" were consolidated but during the high traffic periods (Christmas and summer months), the "Super Chief" ran separate from the "El Capitan". You will now have the opportunity to operate the "Super Chief" and also the "El Capitan" with all the correct cars. You can even combine the two trains and run as one just like the Santa Fe did in real life. The train can also be operated with 5 locomotives as F7A-A-B-B-A. The "Super Chief" passenger train consists of: 106-074 8 Car set: (1) baggage and express #3466; (1) RPO #82; (1) ACF 10-6 sleeper "Palm Star"; (1) pleasure dome #503; (1) diner #600; (1) Dormitory lounge #1342; (1) ACF 4-4-2 sleeper "Regal Arms"; (1) sleeper-lounge-observation "Vista Heights" with tail light and drumhead. 106-6003 4 Car set: (2) ACF 10-6 sleepers "Palm Haven" and "Palm Top"; (2) ACF 4-4-2 sleepers "Regal Gate" and "Regal Hunt" F7A F7B F7B F7A Baggage/Express #3466 RPO #82 ACF 10-6 sleeper "Palm Star" Pleasure Dome #503 Diner #600 Dormitory/Lounge #1342 ACF 4-4-2 Sleeper "Regal Arms" Sleeper-Lounge-Observation "Vista Heights" ACF 10-6 Sleeper "Palm Haven" ACF 10-6 sleeper "Palm Top" ACF 4-4-2 Sleeper "Regal Gate" ACF 4-4-2 Sleeper "Regal Hunt" ..I understand (1) eight car set and (1) 4 car add on set.; Plus the F units... Steve
I think we've had enough warbonnet F7's too. They are inexpensive for Kato to rerun I guess, they just do new number board inserts and hey presto, new roadnumbers.
I'm also tired of companies saying SP and/or Santa Fe engines don't sell well, because I'm pretty sure they do. Only took about 4 weeks for there NOT to be any C40-8W's left for me. That's Atlas, but they share similar wierd marketing strategies to KATO. I guess Atlas' bad point is not re-running SP MP15's, which is dumb. Didn't mean to bring negativity into this kind "heads up" thread. Sorry. Would be nice for more contemporary locomotives, instead of today's date locomotives.
BLW announced it! If you look on BLW website news link, all the Kato new release announcements are there. blwnscale.com. There are 5 announcements of new releases. New CSX SD70ACes, ATSF Super Chief F7 new run, New BNSF GE C44-9Ws (4 of them), Intermodal trucks, and BNSF Maxi Stack IVs with CSX containers. Not to mention that the SD70Ms have just been received and shipped to people with existing reservations like myself. I'll tell you what, this is great and exciting news at the same time I kinda dread it because I have painstakenly planned financially for all the other releases, FVM GEVOs (6 of them, BNSF and Ferromex) and the Intermountain Canadian National SD40-2Ws, and now I'm tempted by this offering! I guess I'm going to have to find more stuff in my house that I don't need or want as much as these new locs! LOL Well atleast I'm not blowing my money on anything bad like alcohol or cigarettes!confused:
Rodney, this information comes from the DEALER newsletter sent out by KATO to distributors and Dealers. We received it 7-30-09. Steven

Kato knows that Santa Fe sells out. They have done atleast 6 numbers in the warbonnett haven't they? This is the first offering of the war bonnett in BNSF. I have done 5 of them myself but I will be getting both the swoosh and war bonnett BNSF units. I haven't bought a locomotive in almost 3 years. Then they brought out the Heritage units and now more BNSF units. Thanks kato.
Actually BLW takes your payment method info (securely)(I use my credit card) and does not charge it for the merchandise until it actually arrives at BLW and he ships it off to you. Then you are charge for the items you reserved plus a shipping fee which sometimes is a reduced shipping fee from his standard $8.50 shipping. I've been doing this for years with BLW and it works well. You never really know the exact day it will ship just told what month is expected. Hope that helps.:tb-biggrin:
Steve, From the 60's through the 90's the Santa Fe, Union Pacific and Southern Pacific was the only stuff available. When I worked in a LHS we sold them like pancakes at the Elk's Lodge on a Saturday morning. What we've learned since that time, is club members, private modelers where taking them and repainting them into the rail line of their choice. So, the perception that ATSF, UP and SP are hot sellers, was and is misleading.
Could it be that the location of your hobby shop dictated what it stocked and sold? We used to have hobby shops around here. They sold mostly Con-Cor and Atlas. But roadnames included Pennsy, GN, NYC, C&O, Burlington, Penn Central, D&H, Milwaukee, Cotton Belt, IC, Amtrak, Soo, B&O, N&W, Southern, ACL, GTW, among others. Ben
Looks like the street price for reserving one of the CSX SD70ACe models is about $71-$75. None of the merchants should charge you until the order arrives & ships in December. Jamie
