I've installed a Kato FL12 in each end of my Kato ICE 4 and an EM13 in the center-powered car. Unfortunately, the FL12s seem impossible to program, either the address or the CVs. I've tried to use both long and short addresses and also I've tried both POM and Programming track programming. Has anyone had success programming these?

I'm using NCE Power Cab, so maybe it's the controller?

I'm a Digitrax guy but l *think* NCE works the same way. If you are doing this on the programming track the command station needs to see a motor as a load before it sends out the programming command. If you have just the FL12 on the programming track it won't work.

You can program the address of the FL12 by putting a loco on the programming track at the same time. The loco will "trick" the command station to send out the address change command and the FL12 will get it (as well as the loco).

Should the loco not be the same address, just remove the FL12 when done and reprogram the loco back to the desired address.

Our club has the BLI address changer so we program our FL12s using brute force with the address changer. More power! :D
