I have 2 Kato N "Metra" locos and would like to have them facing opposite directions, 1 on each end of commuter train. Is it possible to just reverse the wiring, or use another method, or just forget it for DC? Thanks!
If you are running DC, then it will happen automagically! Nothing to do, but put one loco facing forward and the other backwards. DC locos direction of travel are dependent on the polarity of the rails as seen by the loco. Think of it this way: if, when facing forward, the left rail is negative and right rail is positive the loco will go forward. Now flip the loco on the track. The "left" rail is now positive and the "right" rail is now negative -- the loco will go backwards.
Thank you very much! In my case, you can teach an old dog new tricks! & I now finally, completely understand how and why a reversing loop works!
