oh man..... good thing I've got some extra shifts to work in the next few weeks!!! :)
I'm sure the "cross-modelers" will disagree, but I believe N scale is slowly yet surely getting closer to Hugely Oversized,in terms of diesel selection. Sorry steam guys....

All I can say is......AWESOME!!!!! Kinda bad timing since I just ordered 72 of the Atlas Coalveyors (to pull behind the 70MAC's!!!) but I guess I can sell some blood or something...maybe knock off a liquor store or two. :D (kidding, of course....about the liquor store, anyway) Anyway, THANKS KATO!!!

Great news for us N-scalers, bad news for our pocket books. I guess we'll have to do what the railroads do and sell off some of the old to make way for the new... print some of our own money up. [IMG] Good for Kato I hope they run them in BN eventually and then if I'm not asking too much how about some SD75I's in BNSF and ATSF warbonnet, hey if I am going to go in debt I might as well jump into the deep end.

Stickymonk and other BN freaks such as myself will most likely agree that we are feeling left out this time around.... They announced future production of the 70MAC, but no BN! They announced a re-release of the SD40, but no BN!! :( [IMG]

I thought Union Pacific had SD70MACs. Why would they leave UP out. I've been spoiled. Almost everything comes out in UP.

As Homer would say Woo Hoo! Man I have wanted some SD70 MAC's since I started modeling the BNSF five years ago. I got to order some of those. I agree though we need some in the best looking BN paint scheme ever. Microscale take notice, my wife wants some SD70's in Grinstein Green! :D

I believe all of UP's SD70s, including those inherited from Espee, were SD70Ms, sans the "AC" part. Now, granted, they have around 1100 of those, and they are in many ways very similar to the SD70MACs, but aren't quite close enough to "fudge it" with just a paint job. Maybe in a few years this will help Kato release the SD70M and SD70 models, however.

They did leave out one road, however. Doesn't the Alaska Railroad have some SD70MACs?

MEC563: Microscale does have BN SD70MAC green/cream decals, BUT you have to call Microscale directly, as I did, as no retailers I could order from had them in stock. I am doing a green/cream SD80MAC BN fantasy scheme.......

BrianS: UP has ordered SD70M's. 1000 is their latest order, and as you suspected, Alaska RR has 16 of them. I think 16, anyways. They do have them, and like them for radial steering trucks for the sharp curvature of their rail's alignment in the mountains and backcountry of Alaska.

Yes, but they also inherited some from Southern Pacific that would be included in their total fleet. I don't know exactly how many Espee had, part of me says 50, another says 100. Any fans of that line out there to set us straight?

This was copied off the Trainorders Model RR fourm and was written by BCM as an explination as a possible explination to why there will be no BN SD70MAC's.

As to the no BN SD40's I couldn't begin to answer that one. Bet it would sell better than Algoma Central.

    Brian,
I had no idea that the 70MAC series has so many variants! I think your explanation would suit better than my whiney gripe....

I guess I just got super-excited to hear that Kato is making 70MACs!!!! They prolly won't be here till at least Christmas. Merry Christmas to me? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
