Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope your first full week of November was good to you. Let's see what everyone is working on this weekend.

Friday: The bonus of working late and live streaming on Tuesday's is that I get to leave early on Friday. With that said, I'll turn my attention from computer screen to working on my home studio / layout area. I may finish the fascia on the layout or work on any number of things until dinner.

Saturday: Once I have gotten up somewhat early and had my coffee, I'll be driving to Normal IL for an operations session with three of the Athearn service guys. There is a local HO model railroad known in the area for its monthly operations and the Athearn employees and I try to make it every so often as our schedules allow. Since I love operations, I'm looking forward to it. We'll operate until noon then I will need to leave, pick up my wife and drive to her dad's place. This should be the weekend I finish my engine repairs and modifications for the Falcon. I'm halfway through the carb rebuild and we still need a few parts installed before performing an oil change. Once finished we'll dine at a local establishment and head home and if successful with our endeavors, I'll be driving the Falcon home.

Sunday: From May until October, the third Sunday of the month is special for the wife and me. We spend a day together walking among the acres of antiques, crafts and farmers market items. While this ends in October, the group that puts this on has a special Christmas version of Third Sunday Market. We are supposed to blessed with 57 degrees and sunny weather. Ang and I will head up that way, maybe after a good breakfast and look for more vintage Christmas items to add to our collection and display. After that I'll return my attention to the shadowbox project as last weekend was rather lack luster in achieving results. Maybe Santa can get me one of those beautiful cabinet table saws. After that who knows, with it being so busy I may just relax before the threat of Monday morning comes upon us.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 13th to see how we all progressed with our various projects. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Not much planned for me this weekend. I tested positive for COVID on Wednesday. So today is day 3 isolating myself from the rest of my family in our guest bedroom.

Funniest thing-I would have sworn this room was much bigger last week.

I was going to be off today and Monday because of Veterans Day so I had planned some work on the layout along with some fun family stuff. Instead, I’ll be thinking about the layout and hoping the weather improves so maybe I can isolate outside in my backyard for a bit.

While this sucks, my symptoms are improving and my wife and kids were out of town last Saturday until Tuesday night, so it looks like they don’t have it, at least so far. So I’m grateful for that.

Looks like yet another weekend without hitting the work desk.

Well, here we are at Friday again! @MetraMan01, hope you get over that quick. This weekend, I have to work on Saturday. It will be a 14 hour day which bites. At least it's the last site system upgrade for me for 2023! Woohoo! I'll be glad to have these behind me so I can move on to some other work projects for a bit. Sunday, I hope to sleep in but probably won't be able to. I'll have stuff to do with the wife but hopefully I'll have a little time to get down to the workbench. If I do, it will be coffee and maybe some wheel replacements on a few cars. I'd be happy to work on that.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Greetings from a rainy Friday before Labor Day.
Friday: Off to the Farmers Market for hot peppers and Asian Eggplant and apples.
Then to the hardware store for a razor saw and box cutters to trim track, (see thread in HO forum). If all goes well I'll be able to finish laying track.

Saturday: Most likely painting of backdrops - sky blue for now. This will be on sheets of corrugated cardboard from the moving boxes. In the long run I'll paint mountians / cities etc over the blue.
Sunday: Blocking out scenery by cutting foam from left overs and maybe starting on the viaduct.
Beyond all of that, make a video or two of the trains and the 'tower'.

    Edit: Very important:
Make a safe place for my coffee cup and cell phone.

    Lesson Learned:
Trains and coffee cups don't mix.
    Don't ask me how I know. ☻

    Hey All,

Saturday, I'll be at the South Texas Railroad Luncheon, hosted by NMRA Division 6. Presenting there, my usual 10-minute tips for modeling. Hope to see you there!

Sunday, work calls, so probably limited to wallet-driven modeling (online shopping).

Happy Veterans Day all who served...

Good morning from sunny and mild Northeast Ohio!

Friday, took my wife to see the Orthopedic Surgeon's office this morning regarding her knees which really flared up this last week, they are scheduling an MRI to see if surgery is needed. I hope to get some modeling one on some kits that I started and doing some decaling on a coal hopper that was completed and painted during the week. Later this evening I will be bowling in our Friday night league.

Saturday, going to the club to attending the ballasting clinic and afterwards we will be open for Veterans Day as the Stongsville Historical society is open and saluting the Vets in the afternoon. Will then continue work on the models that are currently on my workbench and applying masking tape so I can get a second color on some of the cars.

Sunday, more of the same on modeling along with doing the laundry.

Greetings all, Friday's here. This weekend begins the push to whip the layout and room into shape for the holidays. We have our kids and their families here for Thanksgiving day dinner, then our family Christmas reunion party the 2nd weekend of December, then Christmas day will be here w/ kids and their families again. Especially at the reunion party everyone wants to go up and see the trains.

So this weekend as most weekends between now and Christmas day will be focused on scenery items. Updates on Monday morning.

@MetraMan01 - get well sir. Now that you're exiting self-imposed quarantine, you should be in the "short-rows" to getting back to it.

Well... my plans are a little fluid, but I have a few things that need to happen.

Friday (today), will mostly be spent doing homework with a break in the afternoon to go out to the local retirement community and test my laptop connections for a presentation on my spring trip trip to Isral that's scheduled in a couple weeks. I may also stop briefly at the Sebring Model Railroad Club to drop off some stuff to sell at our open house that begins tomorrow.

Saturday, I'll be out to the club early to make sure everyone is ready and the concessions and admission folks have the cash that they need. If my homework is done, I may stay longer to help out. If not, I'll return home to finish. In the evening, I'll drop off my wife at a fundraising gala for her employer, which is a therapeutic riding center for handicapped youth and adults. She's not driving because she hurt her knee last weekend, is in a knee brace, and on crutches. Since the gala is $100 per plate , I'll do something else while she's there. I might visit the guys at the Massillon Model Railroad Club (if they're open) or just hang out at our daughter's house.

Sunday will be church, followed by another visit to check on our open house.

    Good morning everyone,

The basic part of the staging yard controls / control panels is just about done. Now working with the sensors for the automated part.

Expecting a shipment of 4 Kato locos today from a friend who has been thinning his collection. I already have decoders for these locos and will be installing those and testing them on the layout. The layout has not been run much for a few weeks so will need to do some cleaning up there. Have a few items of my own that I am selling and those will need to get packed up for shipment next Tuesday.

Get well wishes to @MetraMan01 and everyone please be careful as covid, and other bad stuff is out there. I'm back to wearing a mask in public places now to protect myself and my wife.

Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend.

Third Sunday of the month sounds like a wonderful tradition. Keep on enjoying it. (y) @MetraMan01, I hope the covid thing is short lived and few symptoms. (y) Where I am at, lawn care is mostly leaf clearing care. Yep. Workbench time = happy time. ;) Trains and coffee cups don't mix. I will make a note. Outstanding "Victory in Europe" modeling. @dti406, several years ago when I was working, I had chronic knee pain. I got Dr. Robert Klapper and Lynda Huey's book, Heal Your Knees. This book was extremely helpful. Even today, I remain comfortable. Just an idea for you. If I am sticking my nose in your personal business, please forgive me. Good luck. :) Safety berm! :p Another voice of experience. Kids with families visiting the train room for the holidays. Sounds wonderful. :) I have just had a brainstorm. Maybe Pastor John could take his homework to the retirement community and let some of the residents do some of the homework (if they can). It's another win-win. (Beginning to seem like knee trauma season.) Side note: nscalestation is an unsung genius. (I know. Others here as well.) Well, here it is another Friday. A little wet here. I was able to put in solid blocks of work time on the passenger car project. However, wheel/backframe/sideframe making took longer than I wanted. I should have expected this, but I have chronic hubris. I have a planned trip to my youngest daughter's on Saturday. This will obviously preclude some work time. I am planning to do some more today. Sunday is up in the air. o_O I will try. I hope everyone returns to or stays in good health. Challenging times for many. I have never served in the military, so I feel I owe those men and women who did a debt of gratitude. My heart-felt thanks go out to them and you, if you served. When veterans do not get needed benefits or treatment, I am ashamed. Any honest taxpayer would be. So. Here's to the Veterans. Long may you live. Have a great weekend all. :D

Maybe take on one of the kits I bought last weekend at the hobby show.

I went the "deflector shield" route. A force field combined with a hologram of wood fascia. The antimatter reactor is hidden under the engine house. ;)

You remind me that one of the (joke) physical laws that we used to quote when I studied engineering was:

"There is no gravity... the Earth sucks." :ROFLMAO:

No plans. Working extra days and hours. Such is work, this time of year. But the extra $$$ is a very good thing! Will see if I am awake enough to do anything model RR related, or just veg in my recliner the few hours off.

Thinking of my father today, as I do many others. Three years, five months, two weeks in PTO, WWII. Left the US February of '42, did not see our soil again until the end of July, 1945. Home again, finally, August of 1945. Eight combat landings. Artilleryman, FO. No cell phones, etc, etc. Just letters now and then. Came home, GI Bill. Made a life and family. Worked hard. Achieved his life's goals, and thankfully he was able to enjoy the fruits of his labors. (y)
