I think there's no difference from now or any year in the past during the summer. Like said, there's other stuff to do. Plus, without Atlas, that's one less place for duplicate posts.

I like it like this. :)

If people only post when they have actual stuff to say (like, "Here's my progress," or "I built this," or "How do you do this?" or "What's up with this or that model?," or even "Here's something funny," etc.), then it's very easy for me to zero in on high-density, quality information quickly. If people treat forums like a "I have nothing else to do so let's just yak" thing, I feel absolutely inundated by stuff that doesn't improve my modeling. It's harder to find the real meaty stuff.

Trainboard has an awful lot of posts, but somehow it never slides over that line into valueless territory. There are so many really incredible modelers here to learn from.

There's www.nscale.org . That site went down for a while a few years ago and I found this site. I probably spend more time here now as I like it here but I still visit over there now and then. I have stopped looking at the sites sponsored by MRR.

I run a couple lists and I've found that posting is down over the last few years, in general. I think there's a lot of stuff dividing people's time, but also... I think a lot of people sit and wait for somebody else to do the talking, and they just want to read. Obviously the problem there, is that if everybody does that, there's nothing to read. So I try to post stuff on mine to get things going. Sometimes it works, but lots of times it doesn't. That's a bad thing, because if people post stuff and get no response, they might be less likely to do so in the future. So I always recommend... take a minute and make a few replies and contribute. It helps keep the flow going.

Yup. A big thumbs up to Dave, as he has covered it all very completely and accurately in the one post.
