I just rec'd the Spectrum 4-8-2 Heavy mountan and extra tender I bought from johnh. Pictures to follow when I get it up on some track. What can I say. Great price, easy communication, he changed the posting to sold so no one else would be tempted and the loco looks sweet. As john advertized he was selling his last steam. This led me to buy his last steamer without him having to post it.This allowed him to avoid the exhorbitant fees... Opps sorry, no fees here :tb-biggrin:. Anyway, I check trainstore daily and am actually glad there aren't more steamers posted, or I'd be in hock. On a side note.Next time there is a Bachmann bashing party, I'm gonna post pictures of the details on this loco. My first Bachmann steam was a 4-4-0, this one is a smidge more detailed, I'm very impressed.
Any other recent TrainStore acquisitions? Maybe we can get this moved to the Inspection Pit so purchases in all scales can play too?
I tried to buy from Train store a few times, but I can’t tell if something’s already sold or its about to be sold on eBay. Things need to be deleted after they are sold or up for bid on eBay. At least they should be marked sold or closed. After making three invalid purchases, I just don’t want to go through the trouble anymore.
Please don't forget to watch for TrainBoard Support auctions in TrainStore! We on occasion will have people put up items to help us pay the bills, or even send offerings directly for us to sell. We may have another auction coming up later this month. Stay tuned! Boxcab E50
I purchased 2 Santa Fe locos (both #3515) through TrainStore. SF #3515 was featured in the TBX 3401 thread.
This is unfortunate, but I hope you will reconsider avoiding TrainStore all together. Ultimately, yes, each seller should update their listings whenever new circumstances arise. However I dont think a simple PM requesting if the item is still available is too much to suggest. Sure it might not be as convenient as eBay where in as little as two clicks, you can buy and have paid for an item, but I like to think TrainStore listings offer additional benefits over the random eBay listing, such as more knowledgeable sellers.
The new policy is that all items on TrainStore are deleted after 90 days. That doesn't cover ebay items that have expired within the 90 day period. Perhaps we should just delete all ebay items after two weeks? I do not know the length of the current ebay auction options. (3 day, 7 day, 14 day?)
I did send an email but when a week went past I figured it may have ended up in spam. I decided to take a chance on clicking that “buy it now” button or whatever it’s called and to my surprise it worked so I had new hope that it just might be available. It never occurred to me at the time that it might have already been sold it on eBay. I had complained last year that this might happen someday. I had bought another item from someone that had forgotten about it because it had been listed for so long. Fortunately most of the items was still available and some were gone. See this below http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/...d.php?t=113223
Always a possibility. It is best to make contact with the seller in as many ways as possible. TB always allows a PM and sometimes an email if the seller member has permitted that. Also leave a comment under the ad; the seller may see that. This "max contact" is not published anywhere on TS, but it is a good technique.
eBay listings over two weeks old can be assumed to be expired (I think). We do need to do a better job of purging items, and we will do that. I do encourage members that are selling on eBay to list the auction URLs on TrainStore. It's a good way to drive traffic to your sales (and it's free)! Charlie
As promised a pic of the BMann Heavy Mountain and the kitchen/sleeper cars I picked up on Trainstore. The loco was from Johnh, the cars were from ed (sadly I don't know his TB moniker as the trainstore old ads quickly disappear, which is good, I need to keep notes) suffice it to say the transactions went great and I think I got good deals!
Great looking train Marty! You got good deals for sure! Anyone else pick up something special from TrainStore lately?
I picked up an BLI AC 6000 with DCC and Sound. Looks great and I am sure it will run great....I have not had the chance to place her on the tracks yet. I am hoping to get down to the club on Friday and give her a test run and maybe a couple of pics.
Hi Mark I posted my recent TrainStore purchases with photos in this thread, I bought these on TrainBoards TrainStore. Gary
