Today I received the first item I ever purchased using TrainBoard's very own TrainStore! Have you stopped by to check it out? Its one neat feature of TrainBoard, loaded with great deals from knowledgeable and reliable sellers! Best of all, its free to use!! Here's the item I just picked up! What have you purchased on TrainStore?? Share pictures.
I bought a book on the Milwaukee Road in Montana on Trainstore. It's a great book, and I got a good deal on it, too.
That's what I have done, but not recently. I must get back to that. If we, as members, use it regularly, there will me more items available. It's a win, win. It is a service only to TB members and subscribers, the idea being that you have some familiarity with those you are buying or selling. Did you know there is a feedback system on TS? It's very rudimentary, but it is there. If it is used you will at least have some idea of previous transactions.
Most recently I bout a couple of Kato U30C's from and a delux GN woodchip car. I have also sold many items there but lately Not much luck on that. KEvin
I've bought a number of items: my GP20, SD-26, much of my freight fleet, even a portion of my new highway bridge! And for powered items, all have worked so much better than the used ones I've gotten through eBay. I was looking real hard at that little loco, Mark. Glad it found a good home.
[blatent plug] Have not bought anything off trainstore. But I am trying to sell a few things right now! Con-cor corrigated side passenger set "southern" http://www.trainboard.com/trainstore/showproduct.php?product=2819&cat=500 Kato PA/PB set http://www.trainboard.com/trainstore/showproduct.php?product=2982 [/blatent plug] o2pz::angel:o2pz:
Thanks Rick. This ones my second Roundhouse 2-8-0 and they are just beautiful machines. I only grabbed one of the two being sold and the seller moved the other to eBay. It was hard enough passing up the second buy alone, but now seeing how gorgeous these steamers look double headed, I'm really itching to throw financial responsibility aside and grab that third. A trio of these 2-8-0s working a grade would be absolutely beautiful! Being long out of production, these 2-8-0s are increasingly hard to find. Next chance you get, you better jump on it.
Pac rail gets my $ every time he puts up MKT items I cant seem to resist. I've also scored couplers, books & detail items. OK Mark its time to cough up some more of the Katy ;-).
Not to be a wet blanket... When I was in the midst of changing scales, I sold some G scale track via the TrainStore, so I think the concept behind the TrainStore is a great idea, but I think there needs to be some serious work done with the implementation. I just went to look at the N scale items. In the N scale auctions, 13 of the 14 auctions listed are closed. In the N scale for sale category, there are 33 pages of merchandise, but if you go further than page 10, the items listed are from 2009 or older - and many of the ads contain links to eBay auctions that have long since expired. Posted ads need to be current. Sold items need to be removed and ads need to have time limit before they expire (and disappear); otherwise I think people will find the TrainStore more frustrating than helpful.
That's a good observation Michael, thanks for sharing. I'll look into it, but you might want to bring that up in the support thread too. In the mean time, anyone else have new pictures of stuff they bought on TrainStore?
Here are three reefers I got from Flash - I bought some other stuff from him too. I agree with the comments about the Trainstore - I would also like to see improvements to the shipping fees. Presently there is no way to have more than one shipping fee, for instance for overseas postage. I also had some items under the "Support TrainBoard Auction" which did not sell in the allotted time, but I cannot figure out how to change the end date to extend the auction - all I can do is delete the entry and make a new one using the same information.
I have had the pleasure of picking up a BN SD 60M , an Atlas track cleaning car, and one of the TB Forum hoppers. I have to say that all three purchases were very pleasant and that I could not be happier with the items that I received. Ben
Ahem.. Well.. I went ahead and grabbed that third 2-8-0. Oh well, I dont mind living in the dog house for a few days. Its going to be totally worth it once I see the trio on my upcoming Thunder Ridge layout!!
That sure is a fantastic looking little engine Make sure to post pics of the triple header, the other is going out tomorrow!
Ok, technically this last one is an eBay purchase, but it was listed on TrainStore the week prior. (I would have grabbed it then, but I needed that extra week to build up the budget) A trio of 2-8-0's work a steep grade! That's my first TrainStore purchase on point, followed by the best eBay deal I've ever had, a 2-8-0 advertised as broken/damaged, won for 8 bucks, arrived perfect and operational!! And hooking up to the rest of the train is the newest 2-8-0, another perfectly operational item at a great deal! All 3 are Roundhouse 2-8-0's and all three perform with exact precision as my Kato Mikes! If you cant already tell, I am most satisfied with these items and hope Athearn will release another run of this fine product!
