I started in this hobby back in 1990. I only had an oval layout in my basement I could not afford much because I was too young I was about 18 yrs old. Then I went away to college and my grandma gave away my train stuff. Fast forward to 2007 we moved into a new home and started a family. I was nervous when my wife was pregnant cause I wanted the baby to be healthy, thank god he is, so I started a new layout the moral of the story is I have about 110 N scale locos since I started my layout in 2007 I use them all not at once but depends how I feel. I just wanna see when other members started to model and how many locos you guys up too so far. Just a short story on when you started and why.

Oh, I also have about 10 T Gauge sets too! ;) I'm addicted!

I started in 1993 with 6 locomotives and about 30 cars.

Over the years that has grown to over 1,000 locomotives and over 8,000 pieces of rolling stock.

I switched to N scale in 1979. Started with an Atlas GP 30 NYC. Since then I have accumulated about 50 locos. Mostly in conrail, some CSX, NYC and 2 painted for Metro North. I only have about 6 or 8 on the layout at any one time though. I keep them in the little boxes to keep them clean and away from my cats. When I change loco's, I clean them and put them away until I want to change again.

Maybe a dozen. Most run...some need some maintenance. As I convert to DCC I will clean em all and see what makes it. I only need one more that I know of...maybe a 2-8-0 for T.H.E Wife's excursion train. Then I think I will be good for a bit. Lots of other 'To Do's' before I get any more. I run what I have...no Shelf Queens or 'Collectibles' here !!!

Four hundred plus..I have these five cases, plus one more of the big ones full, plus maybe another 20-30 I'm working on,plus a case of cabooses, and more on the layout..No idea on rolling stock..At least half or better are custom painted, quit a few are major kitbashes,or totally scratchbuilt.I started in N in 1967,but didn't get really serious until the last 10 years or so.I've probably finishes 10 or so railroads, working on two more right now..On top of 5 other hobbies,LOL!!

I had a motive power purge a few years ago. I'm down to 75 in N scale, all but 2 are DCC. That's down from 600. I have about 20 in HO scale, all but 4 have DCC and sound.

Scratching my head. I have absolutely no clue. I'm constantly bidding on and winning these things and they go into what seems to be one of several overflowing boxes of locomotives and rolling stock.

Note to self: Must stop buying locomotives planning to convert to DCC/knuckle couplers.

I count an even 50 with 5 more on pre-order. All DCC except for three steamers and a couple "Baaachmans" that don't deserve a brain. I got addicted to railroading around 4 years old. I had (still have) an old S scale train then. Got into N scale in the 60s. Didn't really get nuts into modeling until shortly after 9-11 when I found myself with a bunch of spare time on my hands.

I have exactly the right amount of locos to do what I want: 15. I may get a GN GP-7 in the old colors with gold stripe--IF Atlas ever decides to make them again. Other than that, I have plenty enough.

Well, Today, or after the Greenberg show in Edison tomorrow?
    In O - 3 Diesel, 4 Steam, a Trolley and 2 handcars (Christmas layout)
In HO 4 Diesel, 3 Steam, 2 Electric. (Gift that I'm not running, yet)
    In N About 30 Steam, 30 Diesel, 15 Electric and a trolley.
    The diesels are mostly Amtrak.
The steam and electric, ummm, I'm like a coin collector trying to amass a type set.
I couldn't take them all out, for an accurate count as, I'm a baaad boy. 3 packages showed up this week just before Greenberg and my wife, while tollerant and even pretty supportive is a little annoyed. She does think the new Hannover gruss Hiroshima Trolley is cute, but she is much more supportive of me finding some red paint to detail my old Arnold BR80.

If you're at greenberg and you see a guy with a beard and the glazed over look of a kid in a candy shop, it might be me!
