Just saw GP-30 Slug #2292 and "Mother" 6496 (SD-40?) heading towards New Orleans. They were units #3 & #4 on a mixed merchandise train. Unit #1 was a CSX C36-7 and #2 was a UP SD-40(?). I missed both #1 & #2 numbers Hank

I think they have been renumbered 7116-7140, but I don't think any have been repainted into CSX. The slug mother road # indicates it would be a GP40-2, as I believe all the "mothers/parents" are. I bet it was interesting sight! More exciting than any CSX I have seen lately Harold
The C36-7 was in CSX paint .... I wish I had written the number down because I don't think it was in the 71xx series .... ? A pair of C36-7's in the 2xxx series (in old paint, I think?) come out of Mobile every day to interchange with KCS at Gulfport. I'll try to catch their numbers today for you .... and maybe get a photo, but at 50mph don't hold your breath . I see a bunch of "squirrely" power mixes almost every day going both ways. I'll keep a record and post it in a few days. The mixes can be really wild. Like the other day, a pair of KCS 40's spliced between a Conrail and a UP CSX-8203/FURX-(?)/CSX-8553 just went by. (Heck, that's not exciting ) Hank
Oh Well, so much for "reliable" senior memory. In other words - Boy, did I BLOW it! The Gulfport Turn runs B36-7's, NOT C36-7's, as previously posted. Today the assignment was #5875 (normally it's two B36-7's) Sorry 'bout that Two westbound (south by timetable) mixed freights came by while I was home. Assignments were CSX-8203/FURX-?/CSX-8553, and UP-4172/UP-9774. Later, Hank
