Thanks for the correction Mitch. I probably won't run anything as Tina wants to walk around and get stuff. I hope to do more railfaning this year.

I wanted to post on here about Galesburg RR Days but my husband would not let me use his sign on. My husband thought that it would be best if I use my own sign on. I thought that I would introduce myself to you. You know my husband as the "Floquil guy" so now you probably know who I am.

Both of us can not wait until Galesburg. That weekend is a big weekend for us. Eight years ago we went to Galesburg for our honeymoon (and yes it was my idea :teeth: ) and that was a wonderful weekend. I will never forget that weekend. We plan on going every year. This is our one vacation a year that we can both have a nice vacation and not have to work also. I try to go with Jim to as many RR shows as I can and help him out expecially with his seminars. I have listened to I don't know how many seminars of his and I am still learning. If you get a chance stop by when he does his seminars.

If any of you can get away for the weekend and just want to relax and see some trains this is a wonderful place. To me it is well worth the money.

    Chris and other Trainboard members,
If you folks would like to have a location for a face to face gettogether at the Galesburg Railroad Days Train Show @ Carl Sandburg College have someone get in touch with me hgrossman@sandburg.edu and I will make sure that there is a room available. Questons Saturday or Sunday? (Attendence is much larger on Saturday), Time of Day AM or PM (Sunday AM is very quiet). Someone really needs to become leader on this. Some organizatons have done this in the past with varying degrees of success.

Galesburg Railroad Days Train Show News

Over the last couple of weeks we have heard from several displays about their particapation in the Galesburg Railroad Days Train Show at Carl Sandburg College. Here is the latest.

Howard Bixler with the wonderful anaimated O scale CB&Q O-5 has informed me that he will be with us on Sunday June 25th. The display was not part of the Train Show last year as there were some electronic issues with the locomotive. Apparently, these have been corrected and things are ready to go. PLEASE NOTE: MR BIXLER ONLY WILL BE DISPLAYING ON SUNDAY. This display will be located upstairs, just outside the entrance to the College Library.

Dave Scharnhorst of Quincy spoke to me the other day to tell me that his "Big Bridge" layout is larger than ever. This is really something as it includes a working vertical lift bridge like the NS, (NW, Wab). crossing of the Mississippi at Hannibal, Mo. This display will be located in the
    College Library.

On the downside, Roger Taylor sent me an e-mail today that he will not be joining us this year with his HO scale model of the Lake Michigan car ferry SS Badger. It seems some relative had the nerve to schedule a wedding on the weekend of June 24- 25!

I got confirmation from the Great River Railroad Club from Burlington, Ia.
That they will be here set up in their regular locaton in the art room which is just outside of the Gym. Their layout tends to be very much a CB&Q/BN/BNSF operation.

I have learned that the Dayton, Ohio N Trak group will not be participating in the large N-trak set up in the Gym. However this is a mixed blessing as we now have spots for other N-trak folks to be with us who we couldn't fit in in prior years. This composite N-trak layout covers 1/2 the basketball court and is being coordinated by Les Cisco of Heritage. lesco57@yahoo.com I don't know if there are any spots left, but N-trak people might want to contact him.

On Friday we passed the 250 table mark in terms of tables sold for vendors. There are still several more who are in the "check is in the mail" catagory. They are comming from 15 different states!

Because of the huge size of the Show, we are requesting that visitors use both entrances. One at each end of the College. This will take pressure off the West parking lot and will also get visitors into see the vendors who are located at the east end of the College. If we can balance off the crowds, it will make the whole experence better for all.

Kalmbach Publishing has sent several large boxes of goodies for door prizes. Last year their contribution consisted of copies of Trains, Model Railroader, and Classic Trains magazine, certificates for free subscriptions to Kalmbach publications, and a goodly number of
Kalmbach railroad books. Thanks to the Kalmbach folks!

    More news as it happens,

Harry, thanks for the update on what sounds like will be another great Carl Sandburg College Train show. If their are no objections to the Trainboard members, Tina and I can comunicate with you and organize the Trainboard gathering. From the few members I have talked to, Saturday night sounds the best. What do you say guys, sound ok if Tina and I head this Trainboard thing up? For those who may have not noticed, Tina has her own sign on. BNSF7371 is Tina, which is why some of you may have been wondering why I was typing in a purple font. Maybe she should have chosen BNSFGirl for her handel.

Harry, I will be getting in touch with you off line regarding the Trainboard get together at Galesburg. This will be a great way to get everybody on the same page and put faces to names.

All other Trainboard members please send a private messege to me and let me know the dates you plan on being in Galesburg so I can give Harry a firm date and time.

Saturday evening? It will work for us. We get in Thursday evening.
No PM link on this end sorry.

BNSF7173: I'm bringing locos for you to do.

SD70BNSF: Do you want us to bring some of your stuff and save shipping? Oh our inventory and product lines have probably doubled since we saw you (at KC wasn't it?) last.

Harry: Do you need door prizes? Call on our toll-free line and we'll talk.

Thanks Wig-Wag, I'll be starting a Trainboard/Galesburg Thread here in a day or so, that way we can coordinate. I've been so busy getting this years display model done. Guess you could say a "Theme Engine" like those OCC guys do. Since Bill Selleck is bringing his N scale Galesburg Station I figured I would do one of my favorite CB&Q locomotives with a famous Galesburg connection.

Wow, I wonder what you have, I'm honored.

I thought you did custom paint work? Didn't we swap a few e-mail on these? I have a couple units that need your touch based on the Rock samples you posted here a while back.

Well it is official that I won't be at Galesburg this year.I have scheduled my vacation for the same time as RR days but have to go to Kansas instead to visit the inlaws. It isn't the visit that bothers me just that I miss the ONE train show that I like to go to and is loads of fun every year.I really miss running on the huge Nscale layouts that Harry lets us sit up.
All is not a loss though,I will still get plenty of BNSF photo time at my inlaws due to the fact that the BNSF has a crew change point in the town that they live.Plus I will get to see a few trainsets that locals have in their homes.Last year I actually gained some respect for the Frisco after talking to a engineer that worked through the Frisco-BN-BNSF mergers.

Sorry to hear that, I was in the same boat in 2003, but I managed to get Saturday afternoon and Sunday in. We'll see you in 2007.
