Football games are over. Now, get busy! BTW- What is the chosen height for finished benchwork? Boxcab E50 </font>[/QUOTE]The benchwork right now is at 50 1/2 inches. The lowest track, (WP Line), will be at this level. The second level, (SP Line), will be around 3 inches above that, and the ATSF Line will be the highest, 3 inches above that. So, I guess that means the highest will be at 56 1/2 inches.
You know, I was thinking today. In Dec. I will turn 40 yrs old. I have collected model trains since I was in high school, but never had a layout. I have always wanted to do this, but I was never in a position to do it. Always something seemed to get in the way. Model Railroader and Forums like this kept the dream alive. I don't know how many plans I made up in my mind and on paper! LOL Today, as Kimberly and I finished, and I was getting ready to take the pictures, I had a moment when I was looking at the finished woodwork, and I thought 'WOW!' I am really doing this! I had Butterflies thinking that I am closer to actually getting to run my models I have loved for so many years then I have ever been before. It's very exciting for me. I really do Thank everyone that has ever posted a picture of their work on here. This really is the best group of modelers on the internet.
Thats funny I was thinking how much I'm looking forward to seeing you ( & Kimberly ) build this layout, the progress over the next couple years,it's gunna be great to watch. I suppose alot of us will be unable to build "that dream layout" for what ever reason,so I thank you Jerry for letting us in on all the fun your going to have,I envy ya man!
Good Jerry, now you don't have to sleep in the garage tonight. Kimberly - Now that you have my secret email you can let me know just in case. You know how boys and their toys are. Ok, Ok, I admit it. I am jealous. Not of all the beautiful space. Not even that you get to play with the 1:1 scale. Not that you get an assistant. I am jealous that your assistant is your girlfriend. Now where do _ I _ get one of them? Benchwork is looking good.
Jerry - Congrats - it's a great feeling ! You've waited a long time for your layout, and it's great to see that you are able to do it in grand style. I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress, and especially looking forward to seeing pics of Warbonnets and Scarlet & Gray winding through that beautiful California scenery!!
Jerry; I'm working on my first layout in many, many years, and I know what you're feeling very well! I've got the basic framework done, and will be ready to tryout some track soon. YAY! Keep us posted!
Had a little bit of time this evening, and Kimberly and I headed out to the train room and added another 7X16' of bench work. 7X8' is completed, the other 7X8' needs the 1X3's. (I ran out!)
Here's the end piece. This is going to be rounded. As you come around this corner, you will be looking into a small canyon towards tunnel number three. (Spots are sawdust still in the air.)
