I bought the entire UP excursion train at once. I personally love the jewel cases that most trains come in. I was a little disappointed that the FEF-3 came in a cardboard box. I took the two water tenders and put them in the excursion car set case and used that case for my FEF-3. I cut the tender car foam in a couple of places for the train. I also cut up the FEF-3 box to match other Kato jewel cases. Here is the result: Im sure many people have done this already but I figured I would share.

I received the FEF-3 for Christmas this year and I already purchased the water tender set, but I'll have to wait a few months for the passenger car set that goes with it. But when I do, I will look at doing what you just posted. Looks like a really good idea. Thanks again!
