A bit dark but here is D&H#17653 in Saratoga, NY on the 175th Anniversary of The D&H that I took on a vacation in the area.
Here is one that I don't want to lose. It was taken by JohnnyTrains approximately late 1980's. It is an Algoma Central boxcar, MOW conversion: Russ
Here is a D&H box that found its way to Connecticut. Go here for some detail photos: http://www.railimages.com/gallery/D-H-Boxcar
Here's another "storage" unit. Note the AC on top: I think the ship and travel scheme is my fave ATSF box scheme.
Good catch Steve! I always like seeing some of these shots on TrainBoard as I know there are modelers that do put some of these on their layouts and these are great real life examples for them to reference. Is that AC Unit on top of the Boxcar or a building behind it?
It's on the box top. This is in Phoenix, where summertime reaches 110d easily. Note the white roofing foam sprayed on top as insulation. Also look for the "condemned" stencil above the crossed out road number. Santa fe built car, I think (?)
That's what I thought. I had not seen one of these modified that way but it makes since depending on what it was being used for. Good catch on the "condemned" marking too.
Wanted to keep 'er going. Sorry a couple of these have a glare, but when you see something cool, sometimes there's not other shot. WP in Carrollton, TX. WC in Carrollton, TX. Three diff versions of the green CP, one of them is QC. Addison, TX.
Here is a boxcar modified to haul scrap. William Cowie and I saw several these last weekend in San Antonio. SMIX9032 [ February 25, 2005, 08:48 AM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
