God love him. He was truly the answer man. Its very telling the way he always offered up excellent advice and encouragement. Telling in that his generousity and openess with his knowledge is a statement on what a wonderful person he must have been in all aspects of life, outside of our hobby. I wish his family and friends peace.
My condolences to Jan. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow and may The Answer Man rest in peace!
My sympathies and condolences to Wayne's family and friends. Like many here I knew him only through his posts, but his knowledge and class that came through his messages will be missed.
I'm thinking this morning, that there may be a "Watash Creek" somewhere on my next layout... It has a nice ring to it.
Trainboard lost a bit of its character when Wayne passed on last night. I've met him in person and on this forum, and I have enjoyed each & every post he's made. We are richer for having known him. Whatever he was suffering from, he suffers no more. Deepest condolences to Jan and his family. See you down the road, Watash.
My Deepest Sympathies to his family, friends & to all the members here who enjoyed his posts & knowledge.
My condolences and salute to a fine gentleman of the model railroad community. My prayers are with and to his family.
My condolences go out to the Wilson family. Wayne has presented each of us a challenge to step up and do our part to fill the void created by his passing in supporting and promoting the hobby of model railroading.
Watash oh Watash This was written on my way to my mother's via the commuter rail. I was partially through it when the lights in the car went out. The rest was written by the filtered sunlight coming through the windows. Watash? did you do that? In a world of no easy answers You gave us ours. In a life with no guarantees You presented assurance. When there were no free lunches You served them up. So many questions so little time solutions there for us cost not a dime. Sage words of wisdom everyone sought true to your beliefs of whatever you thought. Details on details intricacies abound you had the answers singularly sound. How you inspired us leading the way with selfless thought process that carried the day. Miss you we will as each question goes by memories flowing as no answer comes nigh. Oh, and one last request, when you see "Longtrain" give him our best. I miss you both. Goodbye our dear Watash resting in peace our prayers to your family and your final release.. This is indeed a sad day. We have all lost a friend. Wayne was such a pleasure. Never met him in person, just via, email, cards and here on Trainboard. He filled a space that we won't soon see filled again. Rest in Peace our friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family.
Not much left for me to add, so I went to find what his 'last post' was - 20th Feb I think. This is the last paragraph from it: Well, you certainly left us some of them my friend
Wayne was the first new friend I ever made out in cyberspace. Through Trainboard I got to know him and kind of forgot that he lived half a country away. He always wanted the news from my little piece of the railroad world and almost became the neighbor over on the other side of the backyard fence. We never actually met but chatted all the time by email and traded photos quite a bit, especially when he found out I make a living with "diseasels" as he called them. I was born too late to run his beloved steamers in revenue service but I think over time, he eventually forgave me for it. :we-wink: So tonight, when I take out the northbound freight, there'll be an extra whistle for fond memories, an absent friend and the hope of a better place. Maybe now we'll take that ride we used to talk about once in a while...and even if it is a diesel Old Buddy, the hammer all the way back in Number 8 will be to speed you home. Take care one last time Watash...I'll miss ya.
