I am in the process of acquiring and painting a locomotive in NS paint. It is a very unique locomotive that would never normally see NS paint.

I was wondering: What paint scheme would you like to see on a locomotive that will never actually be seen?

I'll guess you are going to chrome plate it so the reflection is any color or pattern around? Possibly make the body shell clear Plexiglass, then paint it with Gloss Coat? Probably white with a black pony. Why do you come up with these things CON&TP, you just trying to boggle my mind? I'm too old for this! I hated "Thought Problems" in school! HA! OK I'll bite, WHAT??? Do you suppose he found one of those "Investor's Inspection Engines"? You know, the one that's painted with dollar signs all over and has a cab at both ends with no couplers. When push comes to shove, they still don't know which way they are going anyway! [IMG]

I had no intention of causing debate over WHAT my future locomotive will be! I simply thought I'd ask what others would like to see that simply won't be seen in reality...

...however, I am going to let you guys continue to speculate on my fantasy locomotive.

    Here's a hint (or two):
The locomotive is rated at 3,000hp and will be used for pulling Triple Crown trains on the layout.

Anything in Chessie would be cool to see, especially with a wide-nose!

As far as your locomotive, is it a GP60M? No, can't be, wrong Horse Power. I GOT IT! F40PH!

CNO&TP, did you buy "Brutus" from Art, or are you going to paint a Big Boy and put the horse out front? Naw, too much horsepower! Maybe I'll loan you my 0-2-0 "Goliath", Naw too heavy. Looks like you'll just have to go with an old Knuckle Head Harley!! [IMG]

That would work WT&C, "But he gwine ha' steel legs fo' hisn' layout!!" Ole' CNO&TP is pretty cagey, he is probably going to paint the cab end NS and the rest BNSF Punpkin! [IMG]

(I suspect the guys who run those painted funny cars, go haywire from the paint fumes, or matbe go blind from some other activity they indulge in!) snicker, snort, choke, sneer, guffaw, wheeze, gasp!

For my fantasy paint job, I'd like to see a
    P42 in Frisco "racehorse" colors.

Also, SD60s, SD70s, C44-9Ws, and some AC power in Frisco colors (not to mention B40-8s and GP60s)

Wouldn't a "Wide-nose" diesel look good with a Frisco coonskin logo on the nose? WOOHOO!!

Perhaps he's building a model of the true "fantasy" engine, the 3000 HP ACE3000 4-8-2 condensing steam locomotive hiding in a cowl carbody dreamed up by Ross Rowland and Babcock & Wilcox (who the ambulance chasers just bankrupted). Wouldn't one of those look wild in NS black and white!

My engine arrived this past weekend. I am already set to begin painting/decaling it and hope to be able to unveil it in a couple weeks. :D
