If by "either end" you mean front and back of the consist, not that I have seen. They frequently run these locos "elephant style", in 2 or 3 unit lash ups. yeah I surely know this voice. Made me order 16 custom painted Kato SD40-2...........even if I already own 12 of 'em...
LOLOL!!! I've read Patrick McManus- he can keep me in stitches. Since I only have 6 N scale locomotives so far (and about 30 or so freight cars), I may have to try that line. When one day the missus looks at the layout and sees even more woodracks in the yard, THAT line may be the only printable thing she says! (and I haven't told her that the best N scale layouts have at least four GP7/9s and six GP38s...LOL) And while we're at it, welcome to Trainboard! Glad to have you here (and all the other newcomers as well- pull up a chair, set a spell, and relax while we talk trains ) [ 18 April 2002, 16:51: Message edited by: friscobob ]
no colonel they only the front end the only that new fast train has them on both ends cant think of that train name ???
Yea, though I walk through the shadow of Congress, I will fear no evil for I have slapped down the bucks for a pair of P42's in Phase III. Sigh.
..."the best N layouts have four GP7 and six GP38"..... Damned if I knew this earlier then I wouldn't have bought almost 100 N scale locos by now and more than 800 cars.... BTW. a train with 5 SD90 looks great..... maybe I need some more ....
LOL this sounds like me and "Titanic" I can't resist any book, movie, documentary, etc. about My Lady. I own now every movie and book and almost every documentary of this grand ship. I have a model ship of her, three puzzles, two coffee cups fashioned from the third class cups on board her. I visited the exhibition in St. Paul of the artifacts and bought a lump of the coal from her boilers. They had a lifeboat davit from Titanic on the floor where you could actually touch it and I sat there for ten minutes with my hand touching that cold steel with tears in my eye from knowing that it was the only thing between life and death for the most part. They blew the whistle from her for the first time since the sinking here in Minnesota and at the exhibition it blew on tape every half hour and it was bone chilling to hear it. As you guys can see besides trains I have another obsession that is long lasting and very deep seated. "Titanic" is my passion and my obsession.
PAUL- Amtrak runs with a locomotive on both ends in Chicago-Milwaukee Service (did that in mid ninties.) now they use Cabbage cars (ex F40s) LIKE THEY DO ON THE pACIFIC nw CORRIDOR BETWEEN Eugene Ore..and Vancouver B.C.
Today, the greater Power blessed me with two missing paychecks...and I kind of need some more Kadee Knuckles...! And who knows what they will have at the shop tomorrow!!!
Lady Sunshine, you are just a soft hearted sweety! Here's some "huggles" and a hankie for you!! Sandro, you are letting you pocket book run away with you! There isn't a coupler made that can hold up under the pull of all those engines! You must have them made out of tool steel! Got any photos of your layout?
I model a shortline with light rail, so those 4-axle Geeps look real good to me. Where I live, the predominant six-axle motive power is GE's AC4400, in UP and SP colors. Not many SD9043s down here.....But oh, do those AC look good in a coal train (2 in the front, 2 in the middle, 2 at the end)!
watash check out the picture galleries on my homepage www.sschaer.com for pics of my layout. Never had a broken coupler so far. All my rolling stock and motive power is converted to Micro-Trains. Except some Kato E8/9 with the matching passenger cars. "...letting your pocket book run away..." Well my paycheck goes directly to the hobby shop *LOL* No kidding I really have to step on the brakes. Spent $30K in the last 8 months for model railroads.....
