Thank goodness you do- they're not nearly as common as their "little brothers".

I do not believe that number includes the SD40-2Fs nor the 5400 series they acquired 2nd hand from various sources.

Here's one of BN's bazillion 'Deuces. Too bad it was trailing, and in poor light--it certainly was a rare sight in 2005!!!

Oh I don't know, seeing BN hertitage SD40-2s in 2005 was easy. Seeing ones that BNSF still owned as opposed to rent-a-wrecks was the challenge.

Ex- SP SD45T-2 9373, now owned by CEFX and leased to Dallas, Garland & Northeastern. Still sporting its SP "speed lettering", and lookeeng gooood! :D

This unit, and the ex-SP SD45 coupled to it, is currently the power for the Royse City (TX) unit rock train.

Again, not an SD40-2, but still a duece.

    Excellent shots!
That WC '45 is very likely a 20-cyl. prime mover...

One of Montana Rail Link's fine SD45-2's cautiously leads the ML (Missoula-Laurel) down Mullan's 2.2% at Austin, MT:

And with at least three "Big Aces" in tow- impressive! Nice shot, too.

In fast-fading light, a former ATSF 'Deuce leads tonnage north just 3 miles short of Sweetgrass, MT--the international border:

I dunno, I'm a bit partial to an EMD 567, and any Alco prime mover...

I found this one parked dead on a siding in Rosenberg today. Don't know what was wrong with it. They use GP 35s and 39s for the local around here.

If you look real close on the air tank above the fuel tank, you can read a little fun verse.
