Dueces you want, eh? Well, here's some for ya: Un-remarked BN 7807, with faded-out C&S lettering, Sherman, TX in January 2005, on the point of an empty rock train One very clapped-out SD40-2, hastily relettered for WP (which is NAME DELETED TO AVOID COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT), in tail end of a dog's-breakfast eastbound consist, shot east of Pine Bluffs, WY inside Nebraska.
UP SD40 2702 (ex-SP), looks like caca. Notice the Sonic Drive-In sign some joker pasted on the nose- hey, this poor thing needs some color...... Helm Leasing 8139, obviously of BN heritage. Both this and the sad-looking SP unit were shot in Denison, TX at the ex-MKT Ray Yard yesterday (4-09-06). CEFX 6921 (in CNW paint) and 3780 (in UP colors) in front of Katy Depot, Denison, TX, 4-9-06. Most likely, this is the power for Monday's Royse City Rock Train, which originates at a rock quarry in Stringtown, OK, and is taken by UP to Denison, where DGNO picks it up & moves it over the ex-SP main to Sherman, est on the ex-T&P to Bells, and south on the ex-MKT to Royse City.
Oh yeah, almost forgot: CEFX SD40-2 3178, used in switching service, Ray Yard. Denison, TX, 4-9-06. Total dueces bagged- 3, plus one SD40, all in one day. ANd I haven't included the ex-SP tunnel motor, SD45, or the SD45-2.........
Just last year, a consist not to be missed.. I didn't have my camera, but my wife did... All 3 are deuces, all 3 are in BN paint--patched on not, these consists are RARE nowadays!
That looks better than the new ACEs. Don't think I like them much from what I've seen so far. Dave http://www.dpdproductions.com - Featuring the TrainTenna Railroad Scanner Antennas -
While not an SD40-2, it is a 'Deuce. Helm Leasing SD45-2 913, on Dallas, Garland & Northeastern RR property, Denison, TX 4-9-06
Lenny, do you have data on how many 'Deuces CP had? I know they had a boatload as many or more than BN's 838 units.... Here's a pair of UP 'Deuces bracketing a caboose:
Wickipedia says 484 engines ordered for CP. It also says UP ordered 686. I seem to recall UP had over 1000 SD40-2s on the roster with all the mergers. This may also be true of CP, i. e., CP had a lot more than 484 SD40-2s on the roster.
I think it is--the 6400 series number says it is an SD45.... The BNSF photo archive says it is! "6450-6516 SD45-2"
