Larkspur! Been there--nice shot! Here's a shot at Iron Ridge on Mullan Pass; morning light, and an EB train would make this a good one:
SP train as it exits the West Portal of Moffat Tunnel BNSF freight train, leaving south side of Longmont. Westbound Amtrak as it rounds the curve over Hwy 72, growling upgrade on Moffat, headed for Tunnel 1.
At Austin, MT, the tracks make a huge s-curve climbing the valley to gain elevation. The grade immediately below me is leading from the collapsed, and bypassed Iron Ridge Tunnel, tracks directly in front of me lead to the Divide and Mullan Tunnel; track with coal hoppers lead to the lower of Austin's loops, and then curve back toward Helena:
Empty coal train, rounding curve of new UP cutoff at Pecos street. Eventually blocked crossing for almost 20 minutes! Loaded train behind it had crossing blocked for at least 45 minutes, if not longer!
Nice shot at Utah Jct..... Whe they cut out helpers it takes forever.. I watched once, and grew tired of no movement in 40 minutes..
