Tried to stop my dog from running out the door and thus onto a busy highway. As I pulled her back I hit my hand on the door frame. Was in a splint for 10 days as initially they did not think it was broken. A new x-ray following splint removal indicated that it was indeed broken...go figure :pbaffled:

I had a bicycle accident in third grade in which I "sprained" my wrist...or so the x-ray said. A year later, another doctor noticed that my wrist had been broken and not healed correctly...though it wasn't bad enough to re-break it.

Perhaps one of your jr. secretaries should type for you...and work your tools!

That's an odd incident, indeed! Kind of like my recent adventures. They were all wanting to believe it was a stress injury due to snow shoveling. Turned out that I was dying... That second trip and check saved me.

Well, the main thing is that it is healing, and I see it as a metaphor for this year...things are getting better!

The car is essentially complete. All that is left is gluing the air hoses and and brake staff into place (things which I won't do until I have a yards in which to store the car...based off of previous bad experiences). Next up, I'll paint, letter, and weather the car. I have decided that I prefer Grandt Line's couplers to the Kadees...and it had no problem coupling to both the HO and On3 versions on one of my tight curves.

    Photos will come later.

I've never really looked at Grandt couplers. Might be an interesting topic by itself?

It might be. Basically, we could have an On3 coupler thread and show the various options? I previously used Kadees almost by default...until it occurred to me that their trip pins interfered with locomotive pilots and that I didn't care for the magnetic uncoupling. Then I realized that the Grandt couplers look every bit as good...if not better...than the Kadees...and are cheaper!

Sounds good to me. Please lead on....

As for trip pins, in N scale as I did not use the magnets, I simply began as neatly as possible trimming them off.

    The completed car

I haven't had a chance to wash & paint it yet. I broke out my C&S dvd to determine how I will paint/weather it...funny how it is the only color interior shot of a coal car out there...but the C&Sng ended before the end of the war...and the color photography of the 1950s.

The only part I broke was the brake lever on the right...I replaced it, easily enough, with a piece of 0.020"x0.060" styrene.

The Grandt Line couplers look wonderful...I'm probably going to remove the Kadees from my other knuckle coupler cars (half have Kadees, half have Link & Pins). My stock car isn't red enough...so the other stock, the coal car, and the caboose will all be much reder than the first stock.

Rudnick will get back with you. He isn't always really prompt (especially if he's on a fishing trip).

I think the total time was around 5hrs...maybe 6. I sort of lost track of the time.

Sure...no hurry for Rudnick. Its funny, I always try to track my time on these projects and completely lose track too...THAT is why I love modeling, you can completely lose yourself in it!
