Also, the difference between the F45 and the FP45 is about 4' 11 1/2", just enough room for the steam generator located after the second pair of radiators.
Hey Alan, why dont you enter the deisel market and get us some nice F45 shells, I know YOU can do it. Kevin
I Love you Man! What a great idea! If not Alan, I'm sure someone on this UBB has the equipment to do them! <marquee>B</marquee> <marquee>L</marquee> <marquee>M</marquee> <marquee>A</marquee> [ 23 February 2001: Message edited by: Maxwell Plant ]
FYI: Imperial Hobby Products Shows an Amtrak SDP40-2 on their web site. In talking w/them they might be persuaed to do a Santa Fe version if there is enough interest. http://ihphobby.tripod.com/locomotives.html
Sorry, I'm a N-Scale Modeler. Those are for HO Athern Drives, besides, I thought the SDF40-2 was on a longer frame than the FP45. Maybe I'm wrong...
I got my F45 shell from JnJ, I think they also do an FP45. I fitted my SDF45 right onto a Kato SD45 chassis, but the FP45 would need a longer one, maybe a lengthened SD45 chassis? (somehow)
<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by c.a.jon: Sorry Alan your engine is a SDF40-2, one of 18 engines aquired from Amtrak in exchange for CF-7s back in 80s. Original ATSF #s were 5250-5267. They were Amtraks first road engines but sidelined because of derailments on BN. Easiest spotting feature is vertical notch in nose corner. This was to allow steps on front to allow easier access thru nose. Notch is not real evident in your pic. This was a 3000 HP version of the Santa fe F/FP45s for Amtrak by EMD.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> F45s have flexcoil trucks. Alan's pic is of a F45. SDF40-2s have HTC trucks and are longer than an F45 or an FP45
