Chased this doubled up grain empty out to Hodges, halfway up Beaver Hill. aught him because he had to wait on the siding for a track inspector rig to go by. Then start the train back up on the uphill climb!

I really like watching and listening at Hodges, It is a steep climb, easy access, and the sound reverbs nicely!!

Here is one for you. Dont think I was on this one, was on a few, as far as the Moffat goes, this is actually a one of the better places to start a train only a little more to the west towards that xing is better. I like reading some of the posts under this video, some are pretty funny. Kinda interesting to see how much some folks have no clue whats going on.
BTW those ACE's were basically clean when they left Denver.

When I rode test units over Bozeman pass after we did a rebuild, it never ceased to amaze me just how much soot collected on the shiny paint after just a couple of trips through that tunnel!

Do they ever stall and need a "push" getting through there?

Thanks Hemi!! That's a humbling statement.

Do they ever stall? Occasionally when a unit fails, I even caught one doing a power swap at Hodges after a unit failed. That was in the snow, too! I will try to find that video and put it back up here, there are three pieces to it, this is part one.

But this morning, I caught this doubled up load heading east out of the pumpkin patch!

Here's a similar video, from the Tolland crossing, during the Rio Grande days:

Have seen this one before. Great EMD thunder. I like how they made a temporary Tunnel motor out of the trailing unit, by opening those doors.

Had a happy surprise this afternoon. Was getting a couple of stills of the SF 782 Warbonnet, got back in the car and this oil can came racing into town!

It wasn't a huge surprise, I did see the red light for eastbounds on the mainline, but didn't figure how close he was. Nice surprise!!

Today had a different lineup of old 'junk' on the headend. The most interesting is the "kinda-sorta-I almost tried-hope this is okay" patch out and reletter on the GECX unit. Uggh, no corporate pride of any sort.

    A couple of stills,

Well, they did get black lines spray canned over the top, so it's legal, barely!!

Had a run to Billings yesterday, which gave me an excuse to go to my LHS, formerly Jim's Junction, now Rimrock Hobbies. Retirement time for the previous owner, John.

The trip over we saw one train sitting on a siding, but the return trip had quite a bit of fun! We chased a coal train fromjust east of Pompey's Pillar all the way to Forsyth, and a mega-train, and saw a couple of others. Lots of video's. But the climax was at Forsyth, where we caught up with the mega-train just leaving as we had to stop for more go-juice!

After it left, well, the sunset was just too purty!
    PIC_0222.JPG

Here's the first video of the return trip,

And we chased it to Hysham, wher we spotted this parked empty coal train, and caught the mega-train,

Then, we raced a bit further east, and got to the Sarpy Creek coal mine wye, and caught the coal train,

Another race east, and to West Finch we go! Just west of Forsyth,

And to Forsyth, just in time to catch the back 2/3 of the mega=-train heading east from the overpass. Had to jog up to the overpass! Then after getting the video, a Deputy had just stopped at the car to check if all was well!

All in all a fun day! With a lot of train action!

Excellent work! That glint shot on the tank cars from the overpass is SOLID GOLD!
