And here is the second time in as many weeks that I have seen a set of power in descending order of paint scheme's! And all GE! Yesteday in nearly the same spot as was on the short video elsewhere. And last night, these two older hoppers are set in the Miles City local waiting for Sat run to MC and the car shop over there, I suppose.
As Linus said, "It's great living in the Pumpkin Patch!" Well, he should have said that anyway. Great Pumpkins Charlie Brown!!
It is always fun to see the oldies still making revenue. And so many reminders of roads that are no more. Yet there is an amazing bunch of equipment out there still. Do miss the steam though........
Has been a busy few weeks with thawing frozen pipes and such. Got to get a couple of vids of switching action on the east end by our venerable -2's. And now today I get a trip to Billings. Hopefully also to the local train shop! And even a few trains!!??
The sounds of the old GE and EMD diesels are very nice and down to business. Thoroughly enjoyed my time in the loco rebuild industry, and testing those old girls! Went to Billings yesterday for work, and of course had to chase trains! Got a couple of good videos, liking the second one best though! Blatchford is a siding/former townsite just west of Terry. Just west of Forsyth, I mean a 2 mile short hop and skip west!
And a few stills, MRL yard power at Billings, I chase this train for 15 miles or so before getting ahead of it for the video! Fun! The Yellowstone freezes over and in this area is wide. The Little butte in the background overlooks the old Milwaukee Rd line westbound out of Forsyth ,
Hey Y'all, love your winter photos, thanks. Though have no desire to visit your area, or my native New England in any month that doesn't have an "R". Doubtful even for May and June. LOL
I see a GP 60 occassionally, and always on a through power train. I do have a few pics of a couple in my 'archive ' thread from my days at LRC. We repainted some, as the paint applied at EMD was faulty, and peeling. Snowy weather is part of the fun for this goofy old buzzard! Usually don't mind it, and even enjoy it quite often! Trains in the snow are always a favorite!
And this morning we have a sunny day with a bit of snow left. And it turns out both an empty and a loaded coal train were getting set to depart. The 9193 is on the point of an empty and the 9192 is leading the load! How cool is that!? And both leaving within minutes of each other. Just plain fun!!
This train was setting on 3 track this morning, and is still here tonight. And later this afternoon, this doubled merchandise pulled off of 1 track, thus the slow speed, eastbound. There was a surprise empty low belly flat in the train amongst all the bulkheads of wood! BTW, it is a long video.
Today was blustery, and I pretty much just played in the Trainshed. But heard this guy getting powered out, and here's what is a distraction out the back window!
