The standard Micro-Trains T-shank coupler does not work on this one as the pocket is lower. I used a coupler intended for Kato diesels. 1004 I think is the part number. It is an underslung coupler that when mounted (screwed in), level with the tender bottom, is just slightly low on the M-T height guage. Close enough though. Mine ran 2 hours on our club module set-up tonite without incident. :D

Use the 1129 coupler it pops in the draft gearbox and works like a charm. It is also the one recommended by MT. It does take a little fitting to get it to work. The width of the slot in the draft gearbox needs to be opened to remove the draft angle caused by the molding of the part. Outside of that little messy bit it works like a charm. I have already picked up a second unit and in the process of converting it over to DCC. These are really sweet engines. I just have to figure out how to fit it in with my diesel roster

Check out my post about Bachmann 2-8-0's on 4 FEB 2002. A winner to say the least. The INDIANA RAILWAY now has 4 of them. I have not paid over $85.00 for one yet. Go to the BACHMANN website and post an email to let Bachmann know they have done a good job and to keep up the good work.
