Got my two gensets (BNSF) yesterday and very happy with them. Running them with my MRC Control Master 20 with no problem, though will not try them with the MRC Tech 4 until Atlas and MRC figure out what's going on. The detail for locomotive models in this price range is amazing. I, for one, am a happy camper with the gensets.

Glad to start hearing some good news about these models; I held off on buying mine until something good started to appear

I second that. I have got two BNSF and two UP. They are great engines and I enjoy switching with them very much.
Atlas installed a large capacitor parallel to the engine that disturbed the BMF of my European DCC decoders (ESU and Zimo). It was very easy to remove the capacitor and use that space for the decoders. It is somewhat unusual but not a problem.
    I love my Gensets:thumbs_up:

I have several of the Atlas/Roco GP38s that I reworked & redetailed as Frisco GP38ACs. True, the details are clunky and the handrails are thick (and oh the notch in the fuel tank!!), but back then they were the only game in town if you wanted proper GP38s, and scale-width diesel hoods at that. Compared to the present models (Atlas and Athearn), they're somewhat crude, but I give kudos to Atlas for introducing them back then.

And yes, I have the newer models of Atlas & Athearns, and IMO they're great.

I won't be buying the Gensets (they're way too new for my modeling era), but I saw the models in OKC last year, and I'm impressed.

Woo Hoo, one of my local hobby shops had 2 of the BNSF units in and on display. I put $20 down on one of them (forget which number) I'll probably pick it up in a week or 2.

Also, Speaking of Atlas/Roco. One of the members of the Club here is a machinist by trade and teaches metal shop now in one of the High Schools. I'm going to bring one of the GP40s by next week and we'll discuss what we might do to effectively fix the fuel tanks. Most likely that means cutting them down and just building new correct side profiles, but we'll see.

I managed to hack and slash an SD35 into a reasonable tank profile, but it was hard with the limited tools I have.
