Wow!!! A year late! I wonder if when August comes 'round and we don't see the Genset, will they change the release date to December 2010?

Anyone know what is going on with this loco release?

All I know is that Atlass is getting jacked around with in China. My understanding is that it's a shipping issue, not an Atlas issue. Last I heard they can't catch a break or a boat....

Although I'm sure a few of us would row to China just to pick up the Gensets.

I am not sure when it is coming out in the hobby shops but I hope to have the money by then to get one or two of them when they finally arrive.

the Augest is the estimated shipping date. That is the date of the next ship or ships that can ship it over here leaves china. If it ships in early August from china we will see it at the end of september. It takes 1 month for the ship to make it over here on average. anouther week or two to get it shiped out to the sellers.

I also can't wait for the arrival of this model. More affordable than the earlier release of the Overland model.
All things considered not bad. Still will have the Intermountain AC12 beat for delivery estimate.

I wish they were doing some of the other company's models, but I guess the NRE model is the most popular.

Also, don't forget after transit time it will need to sit at Port of LA/Port of Longbeach waiting for a customs inspection. Hopefully, since its nothing too esoteric, it will go fast. At my old place, when we were getting protoboards from our Contract Manufacturer in Thailand, it could take weeks of sitting up in LA before they were cleared.

According to what I just read on Atlas Board. The Shipping Container Report says that it shipped on Friday due port USA in end of Sept. So should be at Suppliers by second week in Oct.
    Got me to smile:tb-wink:

From pictures on Atlas site they look pretty good. Also they are the first of which I noticed a "Atlas Plus" line; I hope the plus is better detail than past Trainman models. They weren't bad but plus.....not
    We'll see here in Oct:thumbs_up::tb-wink:

Well come back Raymond; good to see you back amongst us:tb-wink:

Basically, they use 2-4 smaller motor-generators in place of one large one. Need one motor? it runs on one. Add the workload; need a second motor, fires up #2

And the diesels are anti-freeze equipped and can be shut down for extended periods in cold weather without risk of damage to the diesel engine.

FYI - Atlas has issued a warning about using these with the MRC Tech 6 -

    Dear Atlas Customer,

Initial investigations have uncovered an incompatibility problem between the new Atlas HO Genset Locomotive and the new MRC Tech 6 Power Pack which could result in circuit board burn out.
Atlas strongly recommends that customers who have purchased this locomotive do not operate it with this specific MRC power pack. Atlas will inform customers of more complete findings as soon as possible.

    Thank You

I only have one Atlas diesel, an FM Trainmaster H24-66 in their Gold series (with sound). I love it! And I feel good about a company that is on top of their product line as they seem to be. I realize they may have a record of some flops, I wouldn't know with my short experience, but I would have to give them a nod for being forthright and keeping their customers and the public apprised of this kind of problem. Even then, it may be much more MRC's issue than Atlas and the Genset.

    I have 2 of the old Atlas/Roco GP40s and 1 of the A/R SD35s.

If I get one of these, and I want to, it will be the first "good" atlas I've owned.

I must have been fortunate because I have several Atlas Diesel locos in HO and N scale and have had no issues at all. And I've run them on Dc and then switched to DCC.
I'm looking forward to there arrival.
SOrry to hear about your misfortune

Oh no no, you miss my point, you must be an Atlas Newb. Those old Atlas/Roco Shells from the 80s are absolutely horrible and the frames aren't right either. They run good, but they look bad.
That' what I mean by "bad."

It just wasn't a good model to begin with...compare to say an BB GP40-2.

See what I mean? It wasn't broken or anything, just not good fidelity. Atlas makes good stuff now.
