I just repeat to myself (and anyone else around) "It's your hobby, and it should be fun. Do whatever you want with your trains". One thing I always do is model freelance but while trying to remain within the bounds of protoype possibility. That way I can bend the rules a bit (or tie knots in them sometimes :D ).

Eg. my current project is located roughly on the Pennsylvania/NY boundary in the 60's to 90's era, so I've got Erie, LV, CSX & NS locos. They might never have existed together, but it's near enough for me  .

</font>[/QUOTE]Mike, I couldn't agree with you any more. I'm not a prototype modeller, I prefer the near enoughis good enough philosphy myself. My layout is not based on any area, it's the overall affect I'm after.

Maybe one day I may decide to model a specific area but at the moment i'm just enjoying seeing may layout grow from some track laid on MDF to a fully sceniced layout.
