Dave, after seeing Tehachapi myself last week and hiking all over it, even though it was greener than a lot of the laborers I used to frame houses with, I can honestly say that you've got a great thing going with that layout. I totally recognize that scene and I ran across that bridge as fast as I could the other day. Anyhow, here's a corny pic of my walkaround: SP forever!
Hey Dave next time we go back to the loop you and Jeff need to show me that area btw Super Job on that TM
I was actually thinking of Dave's layout when I took about 150 scenery reference pics of the loop from all angles. I was thinking of how I would paint the hills on the backdrop for him if I ever snuck into his layout room at midnight.
Looks like an old topic, but I'm new to the forum, and I'm an avid SP fan too, so I just gotta post just 1 picture from my newly started Pengra Pass layout. Is there an SP forum here? Rounding Summit curve...
SD7 quintet pulls the El Paso - Houston manifest past Tower 105 in San Antonio, Texas. These are the new Atlas SD7s and LifeLike's, too.
Flash, always love seeing your photos. Flash, any tips on how you put numbers on the numberboards of your LL SD7s?
I'm going to the loop this weekend. Looking forward to capturing some video. Too bad there won't be any Scarlet & Gray SD or GP power pulling the load!
John: Thanks for the compliment. I must say that there is an article in N Scale Railroading on the numberboards this next issue. Really, it is just a combination of technologies available to us all; it just had never occured to me before. Anyway, it is in the mag this next issue..May/June, I think.
FD - I'll take you up on your offer anytime! I'll even leave the window open so you don't have to break it! Thanks for the feedback on the layout - there's alot of compression going on, but I've tried to keep it true to the real thing the best I can (and in summer, 'cause I like summer). I'd love to see some of you photos, especially of the mountains behind (south of) the loop.
Here is one photo when a BNSF train was coming through. I've got about 150 more but I'll gradually post them in the railfan pics area. The rancher's property seems to have sprawled over the years. Too bad no more SP though, all the other railfans there felt the same way.
Local brass hats line up the motive power in the harbor for a company shoot. My runing mate Richard's TM collection at the SDSoNS. That's Code 40 handlaid in the yard... Tony Burzio San Diego, CA [ April 07, 2005, 01:10 AM: Message edited by: Tony Burzio ]
Nice Tony,I take it wheel flanges have to be turned down? Does Jim Bence still get down to the SDSoNS?
Nope, hand laid code 40 has a full 40 mils to the ties, since there are no moulded on "nibs" to get in the way. Now if I could talk Atlas into fixing their Code 55 track! Tony Burzio San Diego, CA
Wow - that code 40 track looks fantastic. On my next layout. . . Here's an eastbound lumber drag climbing toward the loop. It's going to take the siding around the Santa Fe stack train.
