Here is the completed M4D GP38-2. First completed unit I belive. It still needs windshield wipers and electrical boxes and possibly MU hoses. But for the most part its on the active roster.
the kit features 3d fans and an etched grill. I painted the fan plades with a silver sharpie and weathered prior to assembilly.
VERY nice, Dan. The M4D shells finish up very well. I can see several 38-2's fitting very nicely into the scheme of things, as would a odd 39-2 or two....
Dan, The model looks excellent do you have pics of every stage? Would like to see how you assembled the model etc
Alan!...Alan! Over here, Alan! Smee! Mark (of Mark 4 Design aka M4D) A Kiwi in Virginia PS: OK, you Australians. I understand that there is an N scale convention in Brisbane in September and I'm thinking of fronting up with a bag of goodies and a bunch of questions as to suitable Australian models to produce. Any interest?
Mark, you're right about the convention in Brisbane. It's in mid-September. I'll be there and will be very interested in looking at your goodies. As for the Australian prototype, I reckon you could garner quite a bit of interest given the quality of your shells. In my opinion, a scale NSW 44-class / SAR/ANR 930-class wouldn't go astray for the mid-50's - 70/80's modellers.
I would buy Australian shells just for the uniqueness. Oh, and I will be ordering 2 of the new ones also espcialy after seeing the beautiful work here.
Sorry, I can't sell you 2 for the uniqueness. Truth in advertising would demand that I sell you only one.
I'll be there too. I'm kicking around the idea of doing a clinic/workshop on N intermodal.... You can check out the website for the convention here: 2005 Brisbane N Scale Convention You can find registration details and can nominate for a clinic/workshop on the site as well. More details of the clinics, workshops and layout tours should be added to the website in the comming months. I'd say there'd be a fair interest - we've been selling a steady increase in Australian N over the last few years and there'll be a fair number of Aussie modellers there too. As for me, I'd grab a couple of Espee GP38-2 shells if you bought some across....even some Conrail ones for the EMD Lease fleet. It would be great to catch up with the other fine Trainboard folk as well - any other Aussies thinking of attending?

I'm confident that I will make it to the convention and I am sure that the family will enjoy a visit to Brisbane. Must be about 6 years since we were last there. I have been asked for SP-specific models from a number of folks so I will release a GP40-2 hood with the SP light packae later this week. Also in the pipeline is the SDP45 in EL and SP versions.
