Mike, That looks like something you would see in or around Carson City, Nevada or in some parts of Eastern Oregon, or Wallace, Idaho were they once upon a time mined gold. But looks "Good" !!!!!!
Wow Mike Details, details, and Mo details.... Sharp as always I like the placement of all well thought out. Just to mention I happen to realize that this is one of the longer running Threads on Trainboard and quite interesting I must add. And the first Traveling TB car saga started by Mark Watson. Sure keeps ya comin back for more. I look forward to your updates Mike, please keep em comin and the ideas for us flowing. Thanks for sharing Glen
Thanks Glen , I was going to do a couple videos today but got sidetracked by grandkids. May head out there soon if no more company arrives. Thanks , Mike
Last night I finaly finished Video 21 for those who wish to keep up with the progress on the Albuquerque Carnuel & Tijeras RR. Mike
Well I FINALLY got all the UniTrack ballasted and here are some overview shots of the whole layout as of yesterday. Mike
Mike, Your layout is a work of excellence and I am sure inspiration to all that have been following your work!!!!!
Here is the latest Video Update on the ACTRR. Mike
Nice update, Mike. I have an older laptop that I can now dedicate to train stuff. Since I also use a Prodigy system, I have been considering whether to use the MRC interface or to use a setup like you are. I haven't yet decided.
Did you write graph paper? :tb-biggrin::tb-ooh: How about saving some paper and using model railroad planning software? One that is versatile, very accurate and has a smallish learning curve is AnyRail . Lots of track libraries that are accurate.
"Anyrail" Try for free! Try a slightly limited version of AnyRail for free with no obligation. If you like it, buy a license key ( 59.00 U.S.) and remove the limits without having to reinstall the software. ( O R ) "XTrackCAD" XTrackCAD is available for free on Windows, LINUX and MacOSX. Slightly higher learning curve but..did I mention...It's F R E E !!! Even a simple minded smuck like me is getting the hang of XTrackCAD !! LOL :tb-biggrin:
Good for you! As a rule I get nothing but static when recommending XTrackCAD ...... because of the learning curve. I've been using CADrail since the mid 90's, but when I tried AnyRail I was suitably impressed to buy that as my second leg to stand on. Full disclosure: I do commercial layout planning.
Thank you. Just figure those who dont wanna waste good $$$$$ on a program that they may only use once...should know there is a FREE program to do the exact same thing...maybe more...then a $60.00 program does...just sayin
XtrkCad: Free - Pretty high learning curve, most powerful planning tools AnyRail: 60 bucks - Easiest planning software to use, by far! Average planning tools. For many, I believe the 60 bucks is well worth the 1 time use, especially if it means a very quick, great design for that the layout you will eventually put thousands into. But if you have time to learn the interface, nothing beats XtrkCad when it comes to planning tools (and, of course price). There's a market for commercial layout planning!? Maybe I've just been hanging out in the Layout Design and Discussion forum too much, where dozens of excellent planners provide layout design assistance for free. Makes me wonder why anyone would pay for layout planning. (Shhh, don't tell RhB_HJ's clients!) :X
Hey Mike, Layout is sure looking great! Wow, it was so great looking I didn't even notice the ties in the UniTrak! (Sorry couldn't resist a little dark humor, you prove the thesis that there can be an awesome Unitrak layout) JRMI is awesome, but one has to remember that it was started off as a tool for Digitrax in the beginning if I recall a discussion years ago over a couple of beers correctly. They were the first manufacturer to let Bob Jacobsen have the under the hood info when he started. As you were told, the PR3 is a good interface to use in that it can also program sound decoders and test the sounds while on the programming track. I really like the way you organized the fascia, shows a great deal of thought and planning that also shows in the layout. A very professional job! Thanks for all of the videos, they have been both fun and educational.
Thanks so much Dave , I am really happy with it and I am now trying to get my car cards organized once again. Mike
