Well, the old adage about measuring twice and cutting once is still true...dang I started converting the C630 mechanism to DCC last night and cut twice...yep, you guessed it... I cut the stock DC lightboard in the wrong place. So now I need a replacement DC lightboard (Atlas part 447299). Before I call Atlas, does anyone here have a spare leftover board from a DCC conversion for either the C628 or C630? I just need the middle part, without the LEDs but I'll happily take the whole thing and will of course reimburse any reasonable expenses. thanks guys! Otto K. Relearning the basics
Hi Otto, bobthebear has one, he has just replaced one with a DCC board. He says send him a PM if you want him to post it over. -James
Here is a quick update on how the 1st DT6-6-2000 is coming along, thanks to Bobthebear for the work and photos. The shell all cleaned. And with the First coat of paint. I am really pleased with how well the door and louver details have come out. All the detail is great. That's it for now. -James
Its incredible! Back in the day this thing was massively huge, and in some ways is still quite the brute. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
If anybody that has already ordered a DT6-6-2000 with side frames and has received a refund from Shapeways plus an e-mail saying it cant be printed, don't panic. The problem has been sorted out, hopefully, and you can simply reorder using the account credit Shapeways refunded you. Sorry for the mix up. PM if you have any questions. James
Whew....!!! Wow... for a while there... I thought the sky might be falling... I have place a re-order for the two shells I had ordered yesterday... hope to see them here by early June. One of the two demonstrator models was sent to Carbon County Utah about 1950... which ultimately became ATSF 2606 I will have BOTH demonstrator models in Carbon County... in the three-toned green paint...
Thanks Joe, Its a real headache, they did this to me with the water bottles. I think it’s because I get my test prints form the Netherlands, but most US orders come from New York and they appear to be stricter, or less attentive, on their checking. Hopefully this will sort it out, once one prints they won’t check ant more. My test print was part of a batch of parts so technically the DT6-6-2000 kits I have on my site haven’t been printed before even though they contain the same parts. Fingers crossed. -James
That thing looks incredible !!! Can't wait to get mine !!! I must say, though, mine will look better. They will all be bright orange !!!
Hop on over to the EJE email list and post them when they're done Run 8. You can sign up at: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/eje/info
James, my first order was cancelled and money refunded. Trying to reorder but the link to your Shapeways shop takes me to a list of items where I can buy a pair of shells but not a single unless I want pay more for separate sideframes? In other words, I cannot recreate my original order. What am I missing?? Otto
Hi Otto, Shapeways appear to be having a technical issue, I have been in contact with them and hopefully they can get it sorted today. Currently there are about 20 models missing form my shop and model list! I will let you know as soon as they get it sorted so you can re order. -James
Thanks James, this has turned out to be a bit of a hassle for you. Hope you can work it out with them. I'll be patient.... Otto
