With the price of gas, I won't be posting any Marias or Pullan Pass shots... I have an idea or two for this one; hopefully the weather cooperates!!
And with a trip departure to Grand Junction tomorrow morning, I'll have a few new places to explore while out that way. Taking a couples days from work, plus my usual weekend, and the folks and I are heading to Grand Junction for 4 days. Plus, this will give me some ideas for future trips, since I have nver been to Grand Junction. Been through, on the way to Fruita, with a friend, but that was 10-12 years ago! Think I'd best get to bed for the "night" pretty quick.
Pst, Keith... *whispers* There's a really sweet shot near Radium from atop the hill near Tunnel 42...... Oh, wait, did I say that out loud?
I was at mine two weeks ago, and can't afford to revisit so soon. Maybe I'll go for my favorite local spot.
I have so many spots to choose from that no one spot stands out as an all-time favorite, but..........should I get it uploaded in time, I have two in mind, one real close and one a bit further away..........the latter became my favorite after another spot was closed off to railfans and covered over with concrete (sorta)..........hmm.........
This is tough. So many great places. Hemi, how do you narrow down the Moffat to your favorite spot. I am guessing you would head to Tunnel 27?! Maybe I should sneak into the South Draw?
That T27 shot we bagged the coal train at last light this last trip was in perfect skies. 12 times out of 13, the skies are/were heavily overcast at that hour.. I would go for a morning shot at T2-8. The light is nearly guaranteed all morning. Except the last time we visited at first light.. Ugh. Weather! I would shoot for Tunnel 7, personally. If the skies are overcast in the morning, a shot in deep shadow (a nice shot at Tunnel 19 comes to mind) nearly anywhere is possible, so long as the sky is kept out of the field of view. It won't be spectacular, likely.
Here is Mr. Train's entry View from the look out point at Palasides State Park just north of Savanna IL. You can see my rail images album for more photos from this view point.
All day monday you can still enter Those darn rules. :embarassed:Steve, I been there done that and got a tongue lashing for not reading the rules. Make sure you come back again and join us.
