I thought the convention was great - the layouts on the tour were excellent (spectacular would be better word), there was some great contest models (Russell - it was great meeting you and you did a great job on your entries and repairing them from your rough-handled luggage). I also managed to meet a few other Trainboard members along with a whole lot of other people from all over the world. Meeting other modelers and the people behind the models (i.e George Hollwedel, Peter Harris) is the best thing about these conventions. The other good thing about these conventions is that it motivates you to get working again on things and to get more involved in the "N" community. Peter
Here is the RDC dubbed NYC RDC -3 nicknamed "Black Beetle" It appeared to be a good runner as well as great looking. The Jet Engines flicker as it runs up to speed, nice sound also
Hello Trainboard members, I want to thank all the members who visited my layout on the tour. We had over 250 visitors come through in two days of buses. All during the convention I received nothing but great comments from people all over the country. We even had a few from Australia, Germany, The Netherlands and Japan. The results seen here this week were a joint effort from a dozen or so friends and railfans. At best we only finished about 1/4 of the layout during the past two years in our new home. The helix even performed well with being only a week old. Pressure of a national show can produce some great results in a quick amount of time!. I have posted only a few photos, but will print more as progress continues. I did not post any in the past feeling the convention visitors get first peek. I model the SP&S of the 1950's in the Columbia Gorge from Vancouver to Wishram in a daylight basement area of about 24x30. We in the Portland area have a great bunch of N scale modelers with over 7 large layouts currently in construction. Thanks again for visiting the great Northwest. Rick

I just want to thank all that stopped by my tables and said Hi. Can't remember all the names but you made it a great show for us and hope to see more of you next year in Huston ( Hopping for cool weather there LOL ) rich www.rslaserkits.com
Hi Rich, I think you know my dad Bill Bitner in Norway Oregon. Small world. I met you in Eugene at the swap meet in April with Dad. Cheers: Bill
Oh yea, the weather's fine around here in June, nice and cool. It's been 98-99 degrees the last two weeks, but hey, no hurricanes yet!!
I have to agree, the show was alot of fun! Portland was beautiful. Still downloading pictures....LOL As for the show, I was impressed with the Athearn SP bay window caboose. This is a beautiful model. IM had the Cab Forward running, and it is better looking then some brass models, and ran VERY smooth. Looking forward to these! IM also had some of the ATSF cabooses which are perfect reproductions of Santa Fe's cabooses. I will be getting a fleet of these! Matt at Fox Valley had the GEVOs and they are awesome! Well done Matt! These are going to make alot of modelers happy. Those were my favorites from the show. Got alot of goodies for the layout. Some details for Franklin Canyon, and several models and some beautiful engines from Hien Nguyen. If you havent seen his work, your missing out. It was great seeing my old friends, meeting new ones, and just getting some fun in.
Oh yea, Russell was right.....the ATSF full dome car was a really nice bonus! (That and the fact that Thomas the Tank engine was there too! LOL)
Yea, I noticed you weren't there this year. (Maybe next time in TX? ) Photos of my goodies from Hien coming.
' Sure do Bill in fact need to order some more weights cast from him The stock and flats cars have been going fast 24 today. rich www.rslaserkits.com
Even though HO is the gauge here my wife and I stopped in on Saturday. Lots of great stuff there. Especially the Espee 3/4 Dome lounge cars. Really good looking layouts too.
John, heres a couple of engines I got from Hien, the two Daylight painted SD units SP had for awhile.
